This 4-day itinerary covers two of Kerala's most distinct landscapes in a short window: the misty tea-garden hills of Munnar and the palm-fringed backwaters of Alleppey. It works well as a standalone short break or as an efficient way to sample Kerala's range without committing to the longer multi-region circuits more commonly built around Munnar, Thekkady, and Alleppey together.
Arriving in Kochi and the Drive to Munnar
The trip begins at Kochi Airport, with the drive to Munnar taking travelers past the Cheeyappara Waterfalls, a series of cascades visible directly from the roadside, and the Blossom Garden, known for its seasonal flower displays. The drive itself climbs steadily into the Western Ghats, with the temperature dropping noticeably as the road gains elevation, a welcome shift after Kochi's coastal humidity.

Indian Rupee (INR) is the local currency. Given the elevation change into Munnar, a light jacket or sweater is worth packing even though the rest of Kerala stays warm and humid year-round.
