Dubai has transformed from a modest desert trading port into one of the most futuristic cities on earth, and it remains one of the most popular international destinations for Nepali travellers. It offers a rare combination of ultra-modern architecture, shopping, desert adventure and Arabian culture, all within a compact and easy-to-navigate city. You can stand on the observation deck of the world's tallest building in the morning, ride over the dunes in the afternoon and walk through the old souks in the evening.

For travellers from Nepal it is also practical. The flight from Kathmandu is direct and short, English is widely used, and Indian and Nepali food is easy to find. Many Nepali families also have relatives working in the UAE, so a Dubai holiday often doubles as a family reunion.

How a Dubai tour package from Nepal works

Every Dubai tour package from Nepal that Gomayu arranges is curated for three groups of travellers: Nepali passport holders flying out of Kathmandu, the Nepali diaspora, and non resident Nepalis (NRNs) booking from Australia, the UK, the US, the Gulf and beyond. Many of our travellers start from Kathmandu, and many book from abroad, so each package is designed to work on any passport and from either starting point.

The process is deliberately simple. Pick your dates first, then keep the route realistic rather than squeezing everything into one holiday. From there the package covers the pieces that are annoying to arrange alone: hotels matched to your budget, airport transfers on both ends, day tours with English speaking guides, and step by step help with whatever visa or entry paperwork your passport needs.

The same structure works for split families. Parents can fly out of Kathmandu while children join from London, Sydney or Doha, everyone meets at the same hotel on arrival day, and each traveller follows the entry rules of their own passport. If that describes your family, mention it when you enquire and the package is built around both starting points from day one.

Every Dubai package includes 3 or 4-star hotel accommodation, meals as named in the itinerary, airport pickup and drop, transfers and a driver-guide as per the itinerary, and the entry tickets for the sights listed. International flights, the UAE visa and travel insurance are not included in the package and are quoted separately. Dubai at a glance

Dubai is one of seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, and while it shares the country's federal laws and culture, it has a distinct identity built around trade, tourism and rapid development. The city is roughly divided into "Old Dubai", centred on Deira and Bur Dubai along the historic Dubai Creek, and "New Dubai", which includes Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah. You can move between a centuries-old souk and a record-breaking skyscraper within the same afternoon. The capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi, is a separate emirate and an easy day trip from Dubai.

Do Nepali citizens need a visa for Dubai?

Yes. Nepali passport holders need a UAE visa issued before they fly to Dubai; there is no visa on arrival for Nepali passports. As of our check at the end of September 2026, UAE tourist visas for Nepali citizens are being processed through a UAE sponsor, and since late 2025 Nepali applicants have been asked for a police clearance report from Nepal Police. The rules for Nepali applicants have changed at short notice before, so Gomayu's visa desk confirms the current position before you book anything that cannot be refunded.

How the UAE tourist visa works for Nepali passport holders

A UAE tourist visa is not something you apply for alone at an embassy. It is issued by the UAE immigration authorities, such as GDRFA Dubai, on the application of a sponsor, which for tourists must be an accredited tourism establishment in the UAE. When you book a Dubai package, Gomayu arranges the sponsored application for you. The single-entry tourist visa is issued for either 30 or 60 days, and the application itself is processed digitally. Apply at least two to three weeks before travel so there is time to obtain the police report and fix any document problem.

Documents Nepali travellers are usually asked for

• A passport valid for at least six months
• A recent passport-style photograph
• A return or onward flight ticket
• Medical insurance valid in the UAE
• A police clearance report from Nepal Police, applied for through the Nepal Police online police clearance system

The visa desk will tell you if anything else is needed for your case. If you hold a Nepali passport but live abroad, tell us your residence status as well, because the right route can depend on where you are applying from. The visa is quoted separately from the package.

What is the best time to visit Dubai from Nepal?

November to March is the best time to visit Dubai. Days are warm and dry, evenings are pleasant, and desert safaris and outdoor sightseeing are comfortable. From June to September temperatures regularly cross 40°C, which makes outdoor activities hard work, especially for children and older parents. April, May and October sit in between.

• Dashain (11 to 25 October 2026) falls while Dubai is still hot, so we plan outdoor time for mornings and evenings and keep the middle of the day indoors.
• Tihar (7 to 11 November 2026) falls at the start of the cooler season and is one of the most comfortable holiday windows for a Dubai trip from Nepal.
• Winter school holidays in December and January are peak season in Dubai, and the Dubai Shopping Festival is usually held in winter, so book early.
• Seasonal attractions: Global Village and the Dubai Miracle Garden close in the summer heat. Global Village opens its 2026 to 2027 season on 14 October 2026.
• Ramadan: the dates move earlier each year. Dubai stays open during Ramadan, but daytime eating and drinking in public is discouraged. We tell you if your dates overlap.

How do you get to Dubai from Kathmandu?

Yes, you can fly nonstop. flydubai, Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines fly from Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) to Dubai International (DXB), and the flight takes about 4 hours 40 minutes. Air Arabia flies from Kathmandu to Sharjah (SHJ), next door to Dubai, and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flies from Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi (AUH).

Places to visit in Dubai

Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain

Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, has observation decks with sweeping views over the city. Dubai Mall next door combines shopping with an indoor aquarium and an ice rink, and the Dubai Fountain show runs just outside.

Old Dubai: Al Fahidi and the souks

Old Dubai, including the Al Fahidi Historic District and the Gold and Spice Souks, shows the city's trading heritage before the skyscrapers arrived. An abra boat across Dubai Creek is part of the experience.

Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina

Palm Jumeirah is a man-made island shaped like a palm tree, home to resorts, beach clubs and the Atlantis hotel. Dubai Marina is a waterfront district of towers, restaurants and yachts, popular for evening walks and dhow cruise dinners.

The desert safari

Things to do in Dubai

Beyond the landmarks, Dubai offers a wide range of experiences. Adventure seekers can try skydiving over Palm Jumeirah, skiing at an indoor snow park or ziplining in the Marina. Families often enjoy theme parks such as IMG Worlds of Adventure and Legoland, while those who want a slower pace can spend time on public beaches such as Jumeirah Beach and Kite Beach. An evening dhow cruise with dinner is a popular way to see the skyline lit up, and a sunrise hot air balloon ride gives wide views of the dunes before the day's heat sets in.

Food in Dubai for Nepali travellers

Food is one of the easiest parts of a Dubai trip from Nepal. The city has a very large South Asian population, so Indian vegetarian restaurants are everywhere, and the Nepali community in the UAE supports Nepali restaurants too. Local specialities worth trying include shawarma, hummus and machboos, a spiced rice dish often served with meat or fish. Hotel breakfasts are usually buffets with vegetarian choices.

Culture, local rules and etiquette

Dubai blends Islamic tradition with a highly international population, and expatriates make up most residents. Visitors are expected to dress modestly in public places, particularly at mosques and religious sites, and to be respectful during Ramadan. Public displays of affection are frowned upon, and alcohol is served only in licensed venues such as hotels and restaurants. Follow local laws and dress codes and you will find the city easy and welcoming.

Money, cards and SIM cards in Dubai

The UAE currency is the dirham (AED). Most Nepali travellers carry US dollars bought in Nepal and change them in Dubai, and use cards for larger payments. Check the NPR to AED rate before you travel so you can judge prices in the souks.

• Nepal Rastra Bank sets a limit on the foreign currency Nepali citizens can buy for a trip abroad. Your bank or licensed money changer will tell you the current limit and the documents they need, usually your passport, visa and ticket.
• Ask your bank before travel whether your card is enabled for international payments.
• For mobile data, buy a tourist SIM from e& or du at the airport, or load a travel eSIM before you leave Kathmandu.

Getting around Dubai

Dubai has an efficient transport network. The Dubai Metro connects many of the main sights, and taxis and ride-hailing apps are widely available. Gomayu packages include transfers as per the itinerary, which matters because Downtown, the Marina and the desert camps are far apart.

Shopping in Dubai

Shopping is one of Dubai's biggest draws, from large modern malls to traditional markets. Beyond Dubai Mall, the Mall of the Emirates is known for its indoor ski slope, and the Gold Souk in Deira has row after row of jewellery shops. Travel insurance is not optional for Dubai: medical insurance valid in the UAE is one of the conditions of the tourist visa. Choose a policy that also covers delays and cancellations.
