A few choices make the biggest difference. Keep the trip short, with four to six days in one or two places. Choose nearby destinations such as India, Thailand, Bali or Vietnam over long-haul ones. Travel outside the busiest weeks, such as Dashain, Tihar and New Year. Pick standard hotels and share rooms on a twin basis. Fewer internal flights and hotel changes also keep the total down.

Yes. Every package page shows a per person price for each group size, and on our packages the per person rate for a larger group is lower than for two travellers. That is because costs such as the vehicle and driver are shared across more people. Groups of friends or two families travelling together often get better value than a couple travelling alone.

Often, yes. India is close, so the journey is shorter and you can travel by air or overland. Our India packages range from short trips, such as the Goa Tour Package and the Kerala houseboat tour, to longer routes through Himachal, Rajasthan or the Golden Triangle. The best months differ by region: Goa and Rajasthan are pleasant in winter, and Himachal is cooler in spring and early summer.

Read the What’s included list on each package page before you compare. Some lower-cost packages use shared coach sightseeing instead of a private vehicle, include breakfast only, or leave out monument entry tickets, optional boat trips and water sports. International flights are not included in any of these packages. We would rather show you exactly what is in and out than quote a figure that grows later.

Travelling outside the busiest holiday weeks usually helps. Demand for flights out of Kathmandu is high around Dashain, Tihar and the winter holidays, and popular hotels fill early. If your dates are flexible, ask us to compare two or three weeks. Booking early also helps, because budget hotel rooms and flight seats tend to sell first.
