Why Manila and Boracay Together

Manila and Boracay cover two very different sides of a Philippines trip: Manila's colonial history and modern city energy, and Boracay's beach and island scenery. Since Boracay isn't directly reachable by international flight, most itineraries route through Manila anyway, making a combined trip a natural way to see both without adding much extra travel time.

Getting to Boracay

Boracay itself has no airport large enough for most commercial flights. Travelers instead fly into Caticlan Airport (or occasionally Kalibo, a longer transfer) on the neighboring island of Panay, then take a short ferry crossing, typically 10 to 15 minutes, across the Tabon Strait to reach Boracay. The farewell dinner at a rooftop restaurant with Manila Bay views is a fitting way to close a trip that's covered both island scenery and city history, with Manila Bay's sunsets often cited as among the most striking in Southeast Asia.
