Singapore is one of Southeast Asia's most convenient destinations for Nepali travelers, especially first-timers. English is widely spoken, the city is clean and safe, public transport is efficient, and the compact size means you can cover major landmarks without long transfers. It works equally well as a family holiday, a honeymoon stop, or a short city break.

Getting Around

Singapore's MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) network is fast, affordable, and covers most tourist areas including Sentosa (via the Sentosa Express), Orchard Road, and the Marina Bay area. Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available and reasonably priced for short hops. Given this itinerary includes private transfers and a guided city drive, most sightseeing is already covered, but the MRT is worth knowing about for the free-time segments on Day 4.

Neighborhoods Worth Knowing

• Marina Bay: Home to Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, and the Merlion, this is Singapore's most photographed district and the anchor of most itineraries.
• Chinatown: A mix of heritage shophouses, temples, and street food, best explored on foot.
• Little India: Vivid, aromatic streets with textile shops and South Indian eateries, a short MRT ride from the city center.
• Orchard Road: Singapore's main shopping belt, lined with malls ranging from luxury to budget-friendly.
• Sentosa Island: A resort island connected to the mainland by cable car, monorail, and boardwalk, home to Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, and several beaches.

Sentosa Island in Focus

Since this itinerary spends two days on Sentosa, it's worth understanding the island's layout. Universal Studios Singapore anchors Resorts World Sentosa, alongside the S.E.A. Aquarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark. Beyond the theme parks, Sentosa has three main beaches (Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong), each with a slightly different atmosphere, from Siloso's beach bars to Tanjong's quieter stretch. iFly Singapore, a skydiving simulator, and Madame Tussauds are both a short walk from the main beach strip, making it easy to combine a couple of activities in one morning without needing extra transport.

Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is best experienced across a few hours rather than rushed. The Flower Dome houses a cool, dry climate garden with seasonal floral displays, while the Cloud Forest features a 35-meter indoor waterfall and a walkway through a simulated mountain environment. The Supertree Grove, visible from outside the conservatories, is free to walk through, though the OCBC Skyway (the elevated bridge connecting the supertrees) requires a separate ticket. Evenings bring a light and sound show at the Supertree Grove, worth timing a visit around if the schedule allows.

Food to Try

Singapore's food scene reflects its Chinese, Malay, and Indian heritage. Hawker centers are the best way to eat well on a budget, look for Maxwell Food Centre or Chinatown Complex for a wide spread of local dishes. Signature dishes worth trying include chili crab, Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, and satay. For a quicker introduction, food courts inside malls along Orchard Road offer a curated mix of local and regional cuisine.

Currency and Language

The Singapore Dollar (SGD) is the local currency, and currency exchange counters are widely available at Changi Airport and in the city. English is the primary language for business and tourism, making communication straightforward for most travelers. Credit and debit cards are accepted almost everywhere, though it's worth carrying some cash for hawker centers and smaller stalls.

Weather and Packing

Singapore's tropical climate means light, breathable clothing works year-round, with a light jacket useful for air-conditioned malls and the MRT. An umbrella or light raincoat is worth packing regardless of season, since short showers can happen even outside the wetter months. Comfortable walking shoes are essential given the amount of ground covered between the city drive, Gardens by the Bay, and Sentosa.
