The Maldives offers one of the simplest entry processes of any Gomayu destination for Nepali travelers: a free 30-day visa on arrival is granted to citizens of essentially all nationalities, including Nepal, with no advance application required. Travelers need a passport valid for at least six months, proof of confirmed accommodation, a return or onward ticket, and completion of the Traveller Declaration through the IMUGA system within 96 hours before the flight. This makes the Maldives notably more straightforward to book than destinations like Thailand or Vietnam, which require advance visa applications for Nepali citizens.

Currency and Practical Notes

The Maldivian Rufiyaa is the official currency, though US Dollars are widely accepted and often the default currency for resort transactions, particularly since most resort stays are booked on an all-inclusive basis with minimal need for cash. Alcohol is only available at licensed resorts and liveaboards under special import permits, and tends to be priced significantly higher than in Southeast Asia given import taxes.
