Located in the Bay of Bengal roughly 1,200 km from mainland India, the archipelago offers clear water, coral reefs, and a distinct colonial and wartime history entirely different from Himachal's mountains or Kerala's backwaters. This 6-day itinerary is widely considered the standard first-time route through the islands, covering Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil Island with a full day on each without back-to-back ferry mornings.

Port Blair: History and a First Beach

The trip opens in Port Blair, the Andaman capital and the archipelago's main gateway. The Cellular Jail, a former British colonial prison used to detain freedom fighters, stands as one of the most significant historical sites in the islands, and its evening Light & Sound Show is widely regarded as a moving, well-produced telling of the independence struggle associated with the site. Corbyn's Cove Beach, a short drive from the city center, offers an easy first taste of the islands' coastline. Day 2 continues with Ross Island, the former administrative capital of British Port Blair, now home to atmospheric colonial-era ruins reclaimed by the surrounding forest, and North Bay, known for its coral reefs and marine life, reachable together by boat from Port Blair.

Havelock Island: Radhanagar Beach

Day 3 covers the inter-island cruise to Havelock Island, officially renamed Swaraj Dweep but still commonly referred to by its older name. Havelock is generally considered the highlight of an Andaman trip, and Radhanagar Beach, rated among Asia's most beautiful beaches by multiple international publications, is the main draw, with a wide stretch of white sand and calm, clear water well suited to swimming.

Neil Island: A Quieter Pace

Day 4 continues to Neil Island, officially Shaheed Dweep, known for a softer, quieter character than Havelock, making it a popular choice for travelers wanting a more relaxed stop after Havelock's bigger beaches. The Natural Rock Bridge, a coral formation exposed at low tide, and Laxmanpur Beach, known locally as Sunset Point for its wide shell-sand shoreline and shallow, swimmable water, both make for a memorable close to the day, particularly around sunset.

Back to Port Blair: Bharatpur and Chidiya Tapu

Day 5 covers Bharatpur Beach's coral-rich shallow waters before the return ferry to Port Blair. Chidiya Tapu, a short drive from the city, is known for its mangrove forests and a widely regarded sunset viewpoint, giving the trip's final full day a scenic, low-key close before evening shopping at Sagarika Emporium, a government-run handicrafts outlet, and the local market.

Getting Home

The final day is kept simple, with checkout and a transfer to Port Blair Airport for departure.

Best Time to Visit

November through April generally offers the Andaman Islands' most reliable weather, with calm seas that keep inter-island ferry schedules predictable, a genuinely important factor given how much of this itinerary depends on ferry connections between islands. The monsoon season, roughly May through September, can bring rough seas that disrupt ferry timing and occasionally cancel sailings altogether.

Practical Notes for Nepali Travelers

Indian Rupee (INR) is the local currency. Since this itinerary depends on inter-island ferries with clustered early-morning departure times, valid identification should be kept easily accessible for each crossing, and travelers should build in some flexibility around ferry timing given how weather-dependent these schedules can be. Reef-safe sunscreen is worth packing given the amount of time spent around coral areas at North Bay and Bharatpur Beach, and reasonably light packing helps given the number of hotel changes across the itinerary's three island stops.
