This 5-day itinerary takes a different approach from most multi-stop Thailand packages: rather than moving between destinations, it stays based entirely in Ao Nang and uses day trips to cover Krabi's main attractions. That structure suits travelers who'd rather unpack once and explore from a fixed point than manage ferries and check-ins across multiple islands. It works well as a short standalone beach trip or as the closing leg of a longer Thailand itinerary.

Arriving in Krabi

Krabi International Airport (KBV) serves as both the arrival and departure point for this trip, with connections available via Bangkok. Ao Nang, the base for all four nights, sits along a single walkable beachfront strip with restaurants, massage shops, and a night market, which is why Day 1 is left unscheduled. It gives travelers time to settle in after the flight without losing a full sightseeing day to arrival logistics.

The Four Islands Tour

Day 2's Four Islands Tour is Krabi's best-known half-day excursion, covering Koh Poda, Chicken Island, Tup Island, and Koh Si by long-tail boat with stops for snorkeling. The sandbar connecting Tup and Chicken Islands only appears at low tide, so its exact timing shifts slightly with the tide tables day to day, though operators build their schedules around this automatically. Lunch is served on the boat, and the group is typically back in Ao Nang by late afternoon, leaving the evening free.

Inland Krabi: Emerald Pool and Hot Springs

Day 3 moves away from the coast entirely. The Emerald Pool sits inside Khao Phra Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary, a spring-fed lagoon known for its distinct green-blue color, reached by a short walk through forest trail. Nearby, the Klong Thom hot springs channel warm mineral water through a series of natural stone basins, offering a different kind of soak than the ocean-focused days on either side of it. On the return route, Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple) offers an optional climb of 1,260 steps to a hilltop summit with views across Krabi province; it's a demanding climb and entirely optional, better suited to travelers comfortable with a strenuous stair ascent in heat and humidity.

Railay and Phra Nang Cave Beach

Day 4 is left free, with a suggested half-day trip to Railay Peninsula, reachable only by long-tail boat since no road connects it to the mainland. Railay is known internationally as a rock-climbing destination, with limestone cliffs rising directly behind the beach. A short walk from the Railay landing leads to Phra Nang Cave Beach, one of the more scenic and photographed beaches in the Krabi area, sitting directly beneath the same climbing cliffs. Since this day has no fixed plan, travelers who'd rather stay in Ao Nang and rest can skip Railay entirely without disrupting the itinerary.

Getting Home

Departure runs through Krabi International Airport with a domestic connection to Bangkok for onward international travel. As with any itinerary ending on a domestic-to-international connection, it's worth checking that layover timing comfortably covers immigration and check-in at Bangkok, particularly if the outbound international flight departs the same day.

Best Time to Visit

November through April is the most reliable stretch for this itinerary, given how much of it depends on boat-based excursions and outdoor walking days. The Andaman monsoon season, roughly May through October, brings rougher seas and a higher chance of the Four Islands Tour being shortened or rescheduled.

Practical Notes for Nepali Travelers

Thai Baht is the local currency, with exchange counters available throughout Ao Nang. Since this itinerary stays in one base for the full trip, packing is simpler than multi-stop routes, though reef-safe sunscreen is still worth bringing given the amount of time spent in the water on Day 2. Comfortable closed-toe shoes are useful for Day 3's Emerald Pool walk and the optional Wat Tham Sua climb, since both involve uneven or steep terrain.
