This 6-day itinerary is built as a loop rather than a one-way route: it starts and ends in Phuket, with three nights on Phi Phi Don sandwiched in between. That structure keeps logistics simple, since the return flight departs from the same airport as arrival, while still delivering the signature island scenery that draws most travelers to this part of Thailand. It suits travelers who want the best of both a lively beach town and a quieter island escape, plus a dose of land-based adventure on the final full day.

Arriving in Phuket

Phuket International Airport (HKT) serves as both the arrival and departure point, with regular connections from Bangkok and several direct routes from other Asian hubs. Patong and Kata, the two base options for Day 1 and Day 5, offer a clear contrast: Patong is livelier with more nightlife and dining within walking distance, while Kata suits travelers who prefer a quieter beach setting. Since Day 1 has nothing scheduled, it functions as a buffer for jet lag or flight delays before the ferry crossing on Day 2. Packing light and using a soft, collapsible bag for the island leg matters here, since luggage on Phi Phi Don moves by hand-cart rather than vehicle.

Phi Phi Don and Maya Bay

The ferry from Rassada Pier to Tonsai on Phi Phi Don takes roughly 90 minutes. Once on the island, the absence of motor vehicles is part of its character, and the walk to the Phi Phi Viewpoint at sunset remains one of the more rewarding short hikes in the region, overlooking both of the island's twin bays.

Maya Bay now operates under stricter visitor management to protect its coral reefs, which makes the early Day 3 departure genuinely useful rather than optional. Arriving via Loh Samah Bay and walking in over the boardwalk avoids the boat congestion that builds in the bay later in the morning. From there, Pileh Lagoon offers calmer water for snorkeling inside a near-enclosed limestone cove, and Viking Cave adds dramatic cliff scenery viewed from the boat.

Day 4 is left open by design, with kayaking to Monkey Beach, snorkeling off Long Beach, or a local long-tail trip to Bamboo Island all reasonable ways to spend it. None of these require advance booking from Nepal, since they're easily arranged through the resort or local operators once on the island.

Back to Phuket: ATV and Zipline

Day 5 shifts the trip's focus from water to land. After the morning ferry back to Rassada Pier, the itinerary heads into Phuket's Kathu hills for an ATV jungle circuit followed by a zipline course through the canopy, a change of pace from the previous days of beach and boat time. This also serves as a natural close to the island portion of the trip, with the final night back in a Phuket hotel and the evening left free for last-minute dining or shopping.

Getting Home

Departure runs entirely through Phuket International Airport, which keeps the final day simple compared to itineraries that end in a different city and require a domestic connection. A final beach morning before the airport transfer rounds out the trip without a rushed finish.

Best Time to Visit

November through April is the most reliable window for this itinerary, given how much of it depends on ferry crossings and boat-based excursions to Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon. The Andaman monsoon season, roughly May through October, brings rougher seas and a higher chance of these excursions being adjusted.

Practical Notes for Nepali Travelers

Thai Baht is the currency throughout, with exchange counters available in both Phuket and Phi Phi, though rates tend to be better on the mainland. Reef-safe sunscreen is worth packing specifically, since Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon fall under environmental protections restricting certain sunscreen chemicals. Closed-toe shoes are useful for the Day 5 ATV and zipline activity, and it's worth checking any height or weight restrictions for the zipline course in advance if traveling with children.
