This 7-day route is built for travelers who want the beaches and islands of southern Thailand without a Bangkok stop slowing things down. It moves through three distinct destinations — Phuket, Phi Phi Don, and Krabi's Ao Nang — using ferries and long-tail boats rather than flights between them, which keeps the pace relaxed and the transitions scenic in their own right. Each stop has a clear role: Phuket for arrival and orientation, Phi Phi for the trip's signature island scenery, and Krabi for a final few days of beach time and boat-based sightseeing before departure.

Arriving in Phuket

Phuket International Airport (HKT) is the gateway for this itinerary, with regular connections from Bangkok and several direct routes from other Asian hubs. Patong and Kata, the two hotel base options for Day 1, sit on opposite ends of the spectrum: Patong is livelier, with more nightlife and restaurants within walking distance, while Kata is quieter and better suited to travelers who'd rather ease into the trip. Since Day 1 has nothing scheduled, it works as a buffer for flight delays or jet lag before the ferry crossing begins on Day 2. Travelers should pack a soft, collapsible bag for the island legs of the trip, since luggage on Phi Phi Don is moved by hand-cart rather than vehicle.

Phi Phi Don and Maya Bay

The ferry from Rassada Pier to Tonsai on Phi Phi Don takes roughly 90 minutes and runs multiple times a day. Once on the island, the absence of cars (Phi Phi has no roads for motor vehicles) is part of the appeal, and the walk up to the Phi Phi Viewpoint at sunset is one of the more rewarding short hikes in the region, looking down over both of the island's twin bays at once.

Maya Bay, made famous well beyond Thailand, now operates under stricter visitor management to protect its coral reefs, which makes an early departure, as this itinerary schedules, genuinely worthwhile rather than just a nice-to-have. Arriving via Loh Samah Bay and walking in over the boardwalk avoids the boat traffic that builds up directly in the bay later in the day. From there, Pileh Lagoon offers calmer water for snorkeling inside a near-enclosed limestone cove, and Viking Cave rounds out the morning with dramatic cliff scenery, best viewed from the boat.

Day 4 is left open by design. Kayaking to Monkey Beach, snorkeling off Long Beach, or arranging a local long-tail trip to Bamboo Island are all reasonable ways to fill it, and none require pre-booking from Nepal, since these can be arranged through the resort or local operators once on the island.

Krabi and the Four Islands Tour

The ferry from Phi Phi to Krabi's Klong Jilad Pier takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, arriving in time for an early-afternoon check-in at Ao Nang. Ao Nang itself is more built-up than Phi Phi but still beach-focused, with a walkable night market and easy access to the beach directly from most hotels.

The Four Islands Tour on Day 6 is Krabi's signature half-day (or full-day, depending on operator) excursion, covering Koh Poda, Chicken Island, Tup Island, and Koh Si by long-tail boat, with stops for snorkeling along the way. The sandbar that connects Tup and Chicken Islands only surfaces at low tide, so the exact timing of this stop shifts slightly with the tide tables, though tour operators plan around this automatically. Lunch included on the boat rounds out the day before returning to Ao Nang for a final evening.

Getting Home

Departure runs through Krabi International Airport with a domestic connection to Bangkok, from which travelers pick up their international flight home. Building in a same-day connection is standard for this route, but travelers with an early morning Bangkok departure the next day may want to consider an overnight in Bangkok instead, depending on flight timing.

Best Time to Visit

November through April is the most reliable window for this route, covering the dry season with calmer seas, which matters more here than on a city-based itinerary given how much of this trip runs on boats. The Andaman Sea's monsoon season, roughly May through October, brings rougher water and a higher chance of excursions like Maya Bay or the Four Islands Tour being adjusted or shortened.

Practical Notes for Nepali Travelers

Thai Baht is the currency throughout, with exchange counters available in Phuket, Phi Phi, and Ao Nang, though rates are generally better away from the smaller island of Phi Phi. Since this itinerary involves three separate check-ins and two ferry transfers, keeping essentials and a change of clothes in the soft bag used for inter-island transport (rather than checked luggage) makes the transitions considerably smoother. Reef-safe sunscreen is worth packing specifically, since Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon both fall under environmental protections that restrict certain sunscreen chemicals.
