Short answer: Yes, there are direct flights from Kathmandu to Bangkok every day. Thai Airways flies nonstop to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) twice daily, and Nepal Airlines has filed a few weekly nonstops, though its recent flights have been irregular. Scheduled flight time is about 3 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes, and Bangkok runs 1 hour 15 minutes ahead of Nepal. October, during Dashain and Tihar, is usually the most expensive month to fly.
This guide is for anyone booking the Kathmandu to Bangkok route: first trips, honeymoons from Nepal, family holidays, business visits, and Nepalis living abroad who route home through Bangkok. It covers which airlines fly nonstop and to which Bangkok airport, how long the flight really takes, when fares rise and fall, what happens after you land, and how to get from the airport into the city. Every schedule and fare range below carries the date we checked it. Airline schedules change by season, so treat this as a well researched starting point and confirm on the airline's own site before you pay.

Are there direct flights from Kathmandu to Bangkok?
Yes. Kathmandu to Bangkok is one of the few long international routes from Nepal with nonstop service every single day. On 12 Oct 2026, Google Flights listed direct flights on this route "every day", and the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) summer 2026 schedule shows Thai Airways filing two daily departures from Kathmandu to Suvarnabhumi, valid from 29 March to 24 October 2026. Nepal Airlines files its own nonstop to Suvarnabhumi on selected weekdays.
That makes Bangkok one of the easiest international trips from Nepal. You board in Kathmandu, sit for a little over three hours, and step out in Thailand without changing planes or collecting bags in a third country. For a family with children, an older parent, or a first time flyer, that matters more than saving a little on a connecting fare. If you want to see how Bangkok compares with every other city you can reach without a connection, our guide to direct flights from Kathmandu lists the full nonstop network from TIA.
There are two things to understand before you book, though. First, Bangkok has two international airports, and not every airline uses the same one. Second, not every airline that appears on a booking site is actually flying the route this season. Low cost Thai carriers have moved in and out of Kathmandu several times, and one Nepali airline has filed plans that are not yet confirmed. The airline table further down sorts confirmed operators from the uncertain ones.
Direct versus connecting: is a stop ever worth it?
Connecting itineraries from Kathmandu to Bangkok exist through Delhi, Colombo, Dubai, Guangzhou, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. They sometimes appear cheaper on comparison sites, but they are much slower. On 12 Oct 2026, Kayak showed the shortest one stop option via Singapore at about 10 hours 7 minutes, against roughly 3.5 hours nonstop, and Google Flights showed its cheapest one way fare that day as a one stop SriLankan Airlines itinerary taking about 16 hours. A connection only makes sense if it is genuinely much cheaper, if you want a stopover city, or if the nonstop flights on your date are sold out, which does happen during Dashain. If a stopover appeals, our guide to Singapore Changi Airport shows what a well organised transit hub looks like.
If you do connect, check whether your bag is checked through to Bangkok and whether both flights are on one ticket. Two separate tickets means clearing immigration in the transit country, which can require a transit visa for Nepali passport holders. Our first time flight tips explain how to read a baggage tag and what to do in transit.
How long is the flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok?

A nonstop flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok is scheduled at about 3 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes gate to gate. Google Flights listed the fastest nonstop as 3 hours 20 minutes on 12 Oct 2026, and Kayak gave an average nonstop duration of about 3 hours 29 minutes. The great circle distance is roughly 2,240 km.
Time actually spent in the air is usually shorter than the schedule. Flightradar24 records for Thai Airways flights from Kathmandu to Suvarnabhumi between 5 and 12 October 2026 show airborne times between 2 hours 47 minutes and 3 hours 10 minutes. The rest of the scheduled time is taxiing, waiting for a take off slot at Tribhuvan, and taxiing again at Suvarnabhumi, which is a large airport with long taxiways.

| Scheduled nonstop, Thai Lion Air to DMK | 3 hours 20 minutes | Google Flights |
| Recorded airborne time, Thai Airways | 2 hours 47 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes | Flightradar24, flights 5 to 12 Oct 2026 |

Why your watch shows almost five hours
Nepal Standard Time is UTC+5:45 and Thailand uses UTC+7, with no daylight saving in either country. Thailand is therefore 1 hour 15 minutes ahead of Nepal all year. A Thai Airways flight leaving Kathmandu at 13:30 lands in Bangkok at 18:15 local time. The clock says four hours and forty five minutes, but you have flown three and a half. Coming home works the other way: a flight from Bangkok seems short on paper because you gain the 1 hour 15 minutes back.
The quarter hour offset catches people out with hotel check in, airport transfer pick ups and connecting domestic flights. Set your phone to update automatically, keep confirmations offline in one of the best travel apps, and when you book a transfer, always give the arrival time in Bangkok time.
Which airlines fly this route and to which Bangkok airport?

Thai Airways is the backbone of this route, with two daily nonstop flights from Kathmandu to Suvarnabhumi (BKK). Nepal Airlines has filed nonstop flights to Suvarnabhumi on selected weekdays, but its recent operation has been irregular, so check before you book. Thai Lion Air serves Don Mueang (DMK), but its recent schedule has been thin, and Thai AirAsia's Kathmandu to Don Mueang flight could not be confirmed as operating when we checked. Himalaya Airlines has been listed by schedule trackers as starting Bangkok flights in December 2026, but this was not on the airline's own website on 12 Oct 2026.
| Airline | Bangkok airport | Usual departure from KTM (local) and arrival (Bangkok time) | Frequency | Status, checked 12 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thai Airways (TG 320) | Suvarnabhumi (BKK) | About 13:30 (filed 13:40), arriving about 18:15 | Daily | Operating. CAAN summer 2026 schedule; Flightradar24 shows daily flights 6 to 12 Oct 2026 |
| Thai Airways (TG 310) | Suvarnabhumi (BKK) | 00:25, arriving 05:10 | Daily | Operating. CAAN summer 2026 schedule; Flightradar24 shows daily flights 5 to 11 Oct 2026 |
| Nepal Airlines (RA 401) | Suvarnabhumi (BKK) | 11:10, arriving about 15:45 | Filed 3 weekly (Mon, Wed, Fri) to 24 Oct 2026 | Irregular, check before booking. Flightradar24 last showed it operating on 18 Sep 2026, and Kantipur reported on 1 Oct 2026 that four of the airline's six aircraft were grounded |
| Thai Lion Air (SL 221) | Don Mueang (DMK) | About 15:05, arriving about 19:40 | Filed daily for winter 2025/26; much less frequent now | Limited. Google Flights showed only one nonstop date (16 Oct) between mid October and mid December 2026 |
| Thai AirAsia (FD 183) | Don Mueang (DMK) | About 15:10, arriving about 19:50 | Filed daily in the CAAN summer 2026 schedule | Not confirmed. Trip.com listed recent dates as cancelled and Google Flights showed no nonstop on our sample dates |
| Himalaya Airlines (H9 886) | Suvarnabhumi (BKK) | Not yet published by the airline | Not confirmed | Planned. FlightsFrom lists a start on 1 Dec 2026; not shown on himalaya-airlines.com |
Sources: CAAN Provisional International Summer Schedule 2026 for Thai Airways, Nepal Airlines and Thai AirAsia; CAAN winter 2025/26 schedule for Thai Lion Air; Google Flights and Flightradar24 checked 12 Oct 2026. Kayak counted 14 Thai Airways and 2 Nepal Airlines direct flights per week over the last three months. The northern winter schedule starts on 25 October 2026, so times may shift by a few minutes from then.
Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK): does it matter?
It matters for three reasons: onward flights, airport transfers and late arrivals. Suvarnabhumi is Bangkok's main international hub, east of the city, with the Airport Rail Link into central Bangkok. Don Mueang is the older airport in the north of the city and today is mostly a base for low cost carriers. Google Flights places Suvarnabhumi about 27 km from the centre and Don Mueang about 20 km, with similar driving times outside rush hour.
| Point | Suvarnabhumi (BKK) | Don Mueang (DMK) |
|---|---|---|
| Airlines from Kathmandu | Thai Airways, Nepal Airlines; Himalaya Airlines planned | Thai Lion Air; Thai AirAsia when operating |
| Rail into the city | Airport Rail Link to Makkasan and Phaya Thai | SRT Red Line from Don Mueang station to Krung Thep Aphiwat |
| Distance to central Bangkok | About 27 km | About 20 km |
| Best for onward flights on | Thai Airways and full service partners | Low cost domestic carriers |
| Good to know | Large terminal, long walks to immigration | Smaller, but onward low cost tickets are usually separate bookings |
The practical rule: if your onward Thai domestic flight leaves from the other airport, you need a separate transfer across Bangkok, so allow plenty of time. Most travellers from Nepal end up at Suvarnabhumi simply because that is where the daily nonstops land.
Flying from western Nepal?
Thai AirAsia has also flown between Bhairahawa (Gautam Buddha International Airport) and Don Mueang as a seasonal winter service. The CAAN winter 2025/26 schedule listed it twice weekly between 26 October 2025 and 30 March 2026. We could not confirm whether it returns for winter 2026/27, so if you live in Rupandehi, Butwal or nearby, check with the airline before assuming you can skip the trip to Kathmandu.
When are flights cheaper or busier?
Kathmandu to Bangkok fares follow Nepal's own holiday calendar more than Thailand's tourist seasons. Over the past 12 months, Google Flights rates October as the most expensive month on this route and March as the cheapest, and Kayak's data in US dollars shows the same pattern. Dashain and Tihar push demand to its peak, while January to March has usually been the quietest time to fly.
That runs against the instinct many travellers have. Thailand's tourist high season is roughly November to early April, when the weather is cool and dry, but from the Kathmandu side the fare peaks come from Nepali travellers leaving together. Our month by month guide to the best time to visit Thailand covers the weather side, and the two together help you pick dates that are both pleasant and affordable. February and March, for example, pair low fares with dry weather on most of the best beaches in Thailand.
| Period | Demand from Kathmandu | Why | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dashain and Tihar (October to mid November) | Highest | Long national holidays, school breaks, family trips abroad | Book early; nonstop economy seats can sell out |
| Late December to early January | Busy around Christmas and New Year | Winter school holidays and New Year trips | Fares stay moderate in the data, but good flight times go first |
| Mid April to May | High, with very wide fare swings | Nepali New Year, Thai Songkran water festival (13 to 15 April), summer breaks | Avoid the New Year week if you want lower fares |
| February to March | Lower | Few Nepali holidays; Thailand still dry | Usually the best value for a beach trip |
| June to September (monsoon) | Moderate | Rain in Bangkok and on the Andaman coast | Not as cheap as many expect from Kathmandu |
Dashain and Tihar: the peak to plan around
In 2026, Ghatasthapana fell on 11 October, Vijaya Dashami on 21 October, Laxmi Puja on 8 November and Bhai Tika on 10 November, according to the Calendarific holiday listing for Nepal. Many families combine office leave with school holidays across this window, and a city only three and a half hours away suits a short festival break. When we checked on 12 Oct 2026, Google Flights showed only business class seats on both Thai Airways nonstop flights for a 16 October departure, with economy no longer on offer.
If you are planning a festival trip, start looking as soon as leave and school dates are confirmed. Our guide to Dashain and Tihar holidays abroad compares destinations for the festival window, and the fare range table at the end of this guide shows how far October prices can climb.
Busy days and quiet days
Within any month, Friday and Saturday departures and the first days of a festival break fill up first. Midweek departures can be quieter, so compare them before you settle on a weekend date. Nepal Airlines does not fly every day, so on its off days your only nonstop choice is Thai Airways, which can mean higher fares when demand is strong. If your dates are flexible, check a few days either side before you commit.
What should you know about baggage and connections?
Baggage rules on Kathmandu to Bangkok depend on the airline and the fare you buy, not on the route. Full service airlines such as Thai Airways and Nepal Airlines normally include a checked bag in economy fares, while low cost carriers such as Thai Lion Air and Thai AirAsia usually sell checked baggage as an add on. Always read the allowance printed on your e-ticket or booking confirmation, because two passengers on the same flight can have different allowances.
| Airline type | Checked baggage | Cabin baggage | Where to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thai Airways (full service) | Usually included; amount depends on fare type | One cabin bag plus a small personal item, within size and weight limits | thaiairways.com, Manage Booking |
| Nepal Airlines (full service) | Usually included; amount shown on ticket | One cabin bag within limits | nepalairlines.com.np |
| Thai Lion Air and Thai AirAsia (low cost) | Often not included; buy in advance online | Strict weight limit, checked at the gate | Airline website at booking |
A few points save trouble at Tribhuvan. Weigh your bags at home. Keep medicines, documents, chargers and one change of clothes in your cabin bag. Power banks must go in the cabin, never in checked luggage. If you are carrying gifts or food items for relatives abroad, read our guide to the Nepal customs allowance first, and if you are taking cash, check the foreign currency limit from Nepal before you pack it.
Before you fly from Tribhuvan
Plan to reach Tribhuvan International Airport about three hours before departure. Queues at the terminal entrance, check in, emigration and security can all be slow during festival weeks. Our step by step Kathmandu airport international departure guide walks through each counter at TIA. Run through a pre-trip checklist a week before you fly. Check that your passport has plenty of validity left; if you are renewing, our e-passport guide for Nepal explains the process.
It is also worth arranging cover before you go. A delayed flight, a missed connection or a lost bag is far easier to deal with when you hold a policy that covers it, and our guide to travel insurance from Nepal explains what to look for.
Connecting onwards from Bangkok, including Phuket
Bangkok is the main gateway to the rest of Thailand, so many travellers from Kathmandu continue to Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai or Koh Samui. From Suvarnabhumi, Thai Airways and its partners fly domestic routes, and Thai AirAsia was scheduled to resume Suvarnabhumi flights to Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai from 1 October 2026, according to AeroRoutes. From Don Mueang, most domestic flights are low cost.
- Same ticket, same airport: the simplest option. Your bag is usually checked through and the airline protects you if the first flight is late.
- Separate tickets, same airport: you clear immigration in Bangkok, collect your bag and check in again. Allow at least three hours.
- Separate tickets, different airports: you must cross Bangkok between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang. A shuttle bus for connecting passengers runs between the two airports, with passport and onward ticket checks, but road traffic is unpredictable. Allow most of the day, or stay a night in Bangkok first.
If Phuket or the islands are your real goal, compare the beach regions first with our guide to Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket, then read things to do in Phuket or the guide to the best islands in Thailand.
What happens on arrival in Bangkok?

After landing in Bangkok you walk to immigration, show your passport and entry documents, collect your bags and pass through customs. Before arrival, all foreign visitors, including Nepali passport holders, must complete the online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC); Thai embassies state it is submitted within three days before arrival. For Thai visa rules and the current entry requirements for Nepali passports, see our Thailand visa page, which our visa team keeps up to date.
Here is the order of events at Suvarnabhumi, which is where most flights from Kathmandu land:
- Disembark. Follow the Arrivals signs. Suvarnabhumi is a very large terminal, so expect a long walk, often with moving walkways.
- Immigration. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, your entry document, your return ticket and your hotel address ready. Officers may ask about the purpose and length of your stay.
- Baggage reclaim. Screens match flight numbers to belt numbers. Check the tag before you lift a bag, since similar suitcases are common.
- Customs. Use the green channel if you have nothing to declare, and the red channel if you do.
- Arrivals hall. SIM cards, currency exchange, the Airport Rail Link, the public taxi queue and hotel transfer meeting points are all here or one level away.
Immigration queues at Suvarnabhumi vary with how many international flights land at the same time, so do not book a tight onward connection or a fixed time activity on arrival day. Our practical Thailand travel tips cover first day essentials such as SIM cards, cash and etiquette, and the broader Thailand travel guide pulls the whole country together. Before you go out on the first evening, skim our dos and don'ts in Thailand and our honest look at whether Thailand is safe to travel.
Arriving on the early morning flight
The Thai Airways flight that leaves Kathmandu at 00:25 lands in Bangkok at 05:10. By the time you clear immigration and collect bags, it is usually around six in the morning. The Airport Rail Link runs from 05:30, so you can take the train, but most hotels do not allow check in until the afternoon. Ask your hotel about early check in or bag storage, or plan a slow breakfast and a gentle first morning. This flight suits travellers connecting to a morning domestic flight, or those who want a full first day in the city, provided they can sleep a little on board. A realistic Thailand itinerary keeps that first day light.
Money on arrival
Thailand's currency is the Thai baht. Exchange counters and ATMs are available in the arrivals areas of both airports, and exchange rates change daily, so compare before you change a large amount. Whatever currency you carry, stay within Nepal's rules on how much foreign currency you can take out. For a sense of daily spending once you land, see is Thailand expensive.
How do you get from the airport into the city?

From Suvarnabhumi, the Airport Rail Link train is the fastest way into central Bangkok, taking about 27 minutes end to end to Phaya Thai. Public taxis, ride hailing apps and pre booked hotel transfers take from about 35 minutes, and longer in heavy traffic. From Don Mueang, you can take the SRT Red Line from the station opposite the airport, airport buses, or a taxi.
| Option | Airport | Where it goes | Approximate time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airport Rail Link | Suvarnabhumi (BKK) | Makkasan (for MRT Blue Line) and Phaya Thai (for BTS Skytrain) | About 27 minutes to Phaya Thai; runs 05:30 to 24:00 | Light luggage, rush hour, hotels near BTS or MRT |
| Public taxi | Both airports | Door to door | From about 35 minutes; longer in traffic | Families, heavy bags, late arrivals |
| Ride hailing app (Grab) | Both airports | Door to door, from marked pick up points | Similar to taxi | Travellers who want the fare agreed in the app |
| Pre booked hotel or package transfer | Both airports | Door to door, driver meets you | Similar to taxi | First timers, honeymooners, older parents, early morning arrivals |
| SRT Red Line | Don Mueang (DMK) | Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, for MRT Blue Line | Runs 05:30 to midnight | Budget travellers with light bags |
| Airport bus A1 to A4 | Don Mueang (DMK) | Mo Chit, Victory Monument, Lumphini area, Khao San Road area | Varies with traffic | Backpackers heading to Khao San or Mo Chit |
Sources: Airport Rail Link and SRT Red Line journey times and hours as summarised from operator data on Wikipedia; Don Mueang bus routes and the inter airport shuttle from World Travel Guide; distances and drive times from Google Flights. Which transfer should you choose?
- Arriving at 18:15 on a weekday: Bangkok evening traffic is heavy. The Airport Rail Link is often quicker if your hotel is near a BTS or MRT station.
- Travelling with children or older parents: a pre booked transfer avoids queues and lifting bags on and off trains.
- Arriving at 05:10: roads are clear, so a taxi or transfer is quick. The train starts at 05:30.
- Heading straight to Pattaya or Hua Hin: book a private transfer or an intercity bus from the airport rather than going into central Bangkok first.
Once you are in the city, our guide to places to visit in Bangkok breaks it into manageable neighbourhoods, and if you are heading to the coast next, see things to do in Pattaya.
How much does a Kathmandu to Bangkok flight cost by season?
A one way economy ticket from Kathmandu to Bangkok typically falls between about NPR 26,500 and NPR 66,000, with spikes towards NPR 110,000 around mid April, and a return ticket for a one week trip between about NPR 33,000 and NPR 110,000, depending on the season. October is the most expensive month, and January to March is usually the cheapest. These are typical ranges, not quotes: fares change daily and the actual price depends on the date, the airline and how early you book.
| Season (travel month) | Typical one way economy (NPR) | Typical return economy, one week trip (NPR) | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak: Dashain and Tihar (October to mid November) | 32,500 to 66,000 | 68,000 to 110,000 in October; 43,000 to 83,000 in November | Checked: 12 Oct 2026, Google Flights |
| Peak: Christmas and New Year holidays (late December to early January) | 26,500 to 36,000 | 34,500 to 55,000 in December; 33,500 to 53,000 in January | Checked: 12 Oct 2026, Google Flights |
| Peak: Nepali New Year, Songkran and summer break (April to May) | 35,000 to 110,000 | 45,000 to 77,000 in April; 54,000 to 74,000 in May | Checked: 12 Oct 2026, Google Flights |
| Shoulder (February to March) | 30,000 to 41,000 | 37,000 to 53,000 in February; 33,000 to 58,000 in March | Checked: 12 Oct 2026, Google Flights |
| Off-peak monsoon (June to September) | 33,500 to 46,000 | 54,000 to 74,000 | Checked: 12 Oct 2026, Google Flights |
Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 12 Oct 2026, source: Google Flights, economy, one adult, prices in NPR. Return ranges are Google Flights' "typical prices for the least expensive flights for one week trips" per month, based on fares observed over the last 12 months. One way ranges are Google Flights' typical price ranges for sample departure dates in each season (16 Oct, 6 Nov, 18 Nov and 25 Nov 2026; 23 Dec 2026; 4 Jan, 10 Feb, 10 Mar, 12 Apr, 17 May, 14 Jul and 18 Aug 2027). Both include connecting itineraries, so a nonstop seat can cost more than the lower figure. Kayak's 12 month data in US dollars shows the same pattern, with March cheapest and October most expensive. Prices are set by airlines and change constantly; re-check every season.
What the fare data tells us
- October is the expensive month. The return range for October tops out around NPR 110,000, roughly double the top of the January range. That is the Dashain effect.
- December and January are better value than expected. Despite Christmas and New Year, typical fares from Kathmandu in the Google Flights data stay well below the October level.
- April is unpredictable. The one way range near Nepali New Year and Songkran ran from about NPR 35,000 to NPR 110,000. Some dates are cheap, some very expensive.
- Monsoon is not a bargain season on this route. June to September fares sat in the middle of the range, higher than February and March.
- One way can cost more than half a return. On full service airlines, a return ticket is often better value than two one ways.
How to keep the fare down
Book festival trips early, compare a few days either side of your preferred date, and look at midweek departures. Check both nonstop airlines, since Nepal Airlines fares sometimes undercut Thai Airways on its operating days, and the reverse is also true. Count the full cost: a low cost fare to Don Mueang with paid baggage and a cross city transfer can end up close to a full service fare to Suvarnabhumi with a bag included.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok?
A one way economy flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok typically costs about NPR 26,500 to 66,000, rising higher around mid April, and a return for a one week trip about NPR 33,000 to 110,000, depending on season. October is the most expensive month and January to March usually the cheapest. These are typical ranges from Google Flights checked on 12 Oct 2026, not quotes.
How long is the flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok?
A nonstop flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok is scheduled at about 3 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes. Actual airborne time on recent Thai Airways flights has been about 2 hours 47 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes. Because Thailand is 1 hour 15 minutes ahead of Nepal, the clock difference between departure and arrival looks closer to five hours.
Is there a direct flight from Nepal to Thailand?
Yes. Thai Airways flies nonstop from Kathmandu to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi twice daily, and Nepal Airlines has filed nonstop flights on selected weekdays, though its recent operation has been irregular. Thai Lion Air has also served Bangkok Don Mueang, though less often recently. There are no nonstop flights from Kathmandu to Phuket, Chiang Mai or other Thai cities, so those trips connect in Bangkok.
Which airport in Bangkok do flights from Kathmandu land at?
Most flights from Kathmandu land at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Bangkok's main international airport, which is where Thai Airways and Nepal Airlines fly. Low cost carriers such as Thai Lion Air use Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). Check the airport code on your ticket, especially if you have an onward domestic flight from Bangkok.
Which airlines fly Kathmandu to Bangkok?
On 12 Oct 2026, the confirmed nonstop airlines on the Kathmandu to Bangkok route were Thai Airways, flying daily to Suvarnabhumi, and Nepal Airlines, filed several times a week but irregular in recent weeks. Thai Lion Air flies to Don Mueang on a limited schedule. Thai AirAsia could not be confirmed as operating, and Himalaya Airlines has a planned but unconfirmed December 2026 start.
Is the flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok overnight?
One option is. The Thai Airways flight from Kathmandu departs at 00:25 and lands in Bangkok at 05:10, so it is a short red eye with little time to sleep. The other Thai Airways flight leaves around 13:30 and arrives about 18:15, and Nepal Airlines is scheduled late morning on its operating days, so a daytime choice is available every day.
Can I connect to Phuket from Bangkok?
Yes. Phuket has frequent domestic flights from both Bangkok airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang. The easiest connection from Kathmandu is a single ticket through Suvarnabhumi, so your bag is checked through. If you book separate tickets, allow at least three hours, and much longer if your Phuket flight leaves from the other Bangkok airport.
What is the time difference between Nepal and Thailand?
Thailand is 1 hour 15 minutes ahead of Nepal. Nepal Standard Time is UTC+5:45 and Thailand uses UTC+7, and neither country uses daylight saving, so the difference stays the same all year. When it is 12:00 noon in Kathmandu, it is 13:15 in Bangkok.
How early should I book a Kathmandu to Bangkok flight for Dashain?
Book a Dashain flight to Bangkok as soon as your leave and school dates are confirmed. October is the most expensive month on this route, and when we checked during Dashain 2026, Thai Airways nonstop flights for 16 October showed only business class seats. Midweek departures and flexible dates help keep the fare lower.
Do I need to fill an arrival card for Thailand?
Yes. Thailand requires foreign visitors, including Nepali passport holders, to complete the online Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arrival, and Thai embassies state it should be submitted within three days before you land. It is separate from any visa. See the Gomayu Thailand visa page for current entry requirements for Nepali passports.
Kathmandu bata Bangkok kati ghanta?
Kathmandu bata Bangkok nonstop udan ma lagbhag 3 ghanta 20 minute dekhi 3 ghanta 30 minute lagchha. Thailand ko samay Nepal bhanda 1 ghanta 15 minute agadi chha, tyasaile ghadi ma jhandai 5 ghanta jasto dekhinchha. In English: a nonstop Kathmandu to Bangkok flight takes about 3 hours 20 to 30 minutes, and Bangkok is 1 hour 15 minutes ahead of Nepal.
