So a couple travelling alone pays NRs 2,000 more each than the headline price, and a large family or office group pays less.
How much is a flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok?
A return economy ticket from Kathmandu to Bangkok costs about NRs 52,000 to 80,000 for most dates we checked. On 30 Sep 2026, Thai Airways' own Kathmandu to Bangkok page showed round-trip economy fares from NRs 54,700 for September and October 2026 travel, with some September dates up to NRs 80,143. KAYAK's route page showed typical round-trip fares of US$337 to US$428 (about NRs 51,900 to 65,900).
- Direct flights: Thai Airways and Nepal Airlines fly non-stop between Kathmandu and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Flying time is about 3 hours 20 to 30 minutes.
- One-stop options: via Delhi, Colombo or Kuala Lumpur. They can cost less but take much longer.
- Cheaper months: KAYAK's data shows February as the lowest-fare month on this route and May as the most expensive.
Fares change daily. Seats for Dashain and Tihar dates, and for the winter school holidays, are the first to go, so book those early. Ask us to add the current fare to your quote before you decide.
How much is the Thailand visa for Nepali passport holders?
Nepali passport holders need a Thailand tourist visa before they fly, and it is now applied for online as an e-Visa. Since 1 January 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu requires all applicants in Nepal to use the official portal, thaievisa.go.th. The fee is set by the embassy and can change without notice, so we confirm the exact amount when we file your application.
- How you pay: the embassy's page says online payment is not available for applicants in Nepal. The fee is deposited at a Global IME Bank branch in Kathmandu Valley for a manager's cheque.
- How long it takes: the embassy asks for at least 7 working days after the manager's cheque is submitted. Apply at least 3 to 4 weeks before you travel.
- Money in the bank: the embassy's tourist visa page asks for a 6-month bank statement showing at least THB 20,000 (listed as NPR 80,000) per person or THB 40,000 per family. This is proof of funds, not a cost.
- Other documents: passport valid 6 months or more, photo, hotel and flight bookings, itinerary.
Before you land, every foreign visitor must also fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at tdac.immigration.go.th within 3 days before arrival. The official TDAC site states that no fee is required, so do not pay any website that charges for it.
One more thing to watch: Thailand's government has proposed a 300-baht entry fee for foreign air arrivals (reported by The Nation in March 2026). We could not confirm that it is being collected as of 30 Sep 2026. If it starts before your trip, we will tell you when we quote.

How much pocket money do you need per day in Thailand?
Plan on THB 350 to 1,000 per person per day (about NRs 1,600 to 4,580) on top of a Gomayu package. Breakfast, transfers and the sightseeing in your itinerary are already paid, so this covers the rest.

Is 1 lakh enough for a Thailand trip?
Only just, and only for a short trip. NRs 1 lakh can cover a 4-day Bangkok trip if you travel in a group of 3 to 7, find a return fare near NRs 52,000 and spend carefully: NRs 28,000 package plus NRs 52,000 flight plus about NRs 8,200 pocket money comes to about NRs 88,200, leaving room for the visa fee.
For a 5-day Bangkok and Pattaya trip, 1 lakh is not a safe budget. The low end is about NRs 98,300 before the visa fee, and that assumes the lowest fare and the tightest spending. Budget for the full range instead, about NRs 98,000 to 1,41,000 per person plus the visa fee, and expect the upper half if you travel at Dashain or Tihar.
