Global Village Dubai: Season 31 Guide, and Is There a Nepal Pavilion?

32 min read 27 Oct 2026
Brightly lit pavilions and a giant illuminated globe balloon at Global Village Dubai at night

Short answer: Global Village Dubai opened its Season 31 on 14 October 2026 and runs until May 2027 (the exact closing day has not been announced yet). It opens every day at 4:00 pm and closes at midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and at 1:00 am from Thursday to Saturday and on public holidays, and Tuesdays are kept for ladies, families and couples. There is no Nepal pavilion on the official list of 29 pavilions for the 2026 to 27 season, so if you want something Nepali, ask at the information desk when you arrive rather than planning your visit around it.

Global Village is the big open air winter park on the edge of Dubai where country pavilions, street food, stage shows and fairground rides share one site. For Nepali families flying in after Dashain or Tihar, for the many Nepalis living in the Gulf who host parents from Kathmandu each winter, and for any first time visitor, it is one of the easiest evenings out in the city: the gates open late in the afternoon, the worst of the day's heat has passed by the time it gets busy, and there is something for every age. This guide covers the Season 31 dates and hours, what the ticket covers, an honest answer on the Nepal pavilion, the pavilions and shows worth your time, the food, buses and parking, and how to plan the evening with children or elderly parents.

If you are still shaping the wider trip, our Dubai travel guide covers seasons, areas and local rules, and the area by area list of things to do in Dubai shows where Global Village fits among the city's other evenings.

When is Global Village Dubai open in the 2026 to 27 season?

Global Village Season 31 opened at 6:00 pm on Wednesday 14 October 2026 and runs until May 2027. The official Global Village website shows the season as "14 October 2026 to May 2027" and, as of 27 October 2026, no exact closing day has been published. Treat May as the planning month rather than a fixed date.

The park is open every day of the season, but only in the afternoon and evening. Gates open at 4:00 pm. It closes at midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and stays open an hour later, until 1:00 am, from Thursday to Saturday and on public holidays.

What does the Tuesday family day mean?

Tuesdays at Global Village are reserved for families and women, except on Tuesdays that fall on a public holiday. The official home page words it as "ladies and families", and the Plan Your Visit page adds couples. In practice, if you are a family group, a couple or a group of women, Tuesday is open to you as normal. If you are a group of men travelling without family, plan your visit for another day of the week.

How has the season length changed in recent years?

The park closes each summer and reopens in October, and the end date sometimes moves. Season 30 opened on 15 October 2025 and was due to close on 10 May 2026. It closed temporarily in spring 2026 during a period of regional disruption, reopened on 20 April, and was then extended to 31 May 2026 to cover the Eid Al Adha holiday, according to The National. Season 29, which ended in May 2025, set a record of 10.5 million visitors, according to the Dubai Media Office.

What do tickets cost and what do they cover?

There are two standard entry tickets for Season 31, and both are single use. The Any Day ticket is valid on any day of the season, including weekends and public holidays. The Weekday ticket is valid from Monday to Thursday only, excluding public holidays. Entry covers the pavilions, shopping streets, outdoor shows and the general park; it does not cover rides, ticketed events or the separately sold attractions.

Checked: 27 Oct 2026, globalvillage.ae ticket section. Prices are set by Global Village and can change; Sunday is not covered by the Weekday ticket, so on a Sunday you need the Any Day ticket.

Buy tickets only through the official Global Village website, the official app or the gate counters. Gulf News reported on 28 September 2026 that Global Village had warned buyers about fake websites selling its VIP packs, after an earlier Dubai Police warning about fake Global Village websites and social media accounts, and the same caution applies to cheap entry tickets offered on social media.

What is Global Village?

Global Village is a seasonal cultural and entertainment park in Dubai where countries and regions set up themed pavilions to sell their crafts, food and goods, surrounded by stages, a lake, gardens and a fairground. Think of it as a very large winter mela with a world theme.

It began small. Wikipedia's history of the park records that it started in the mid 1990s as a cluster of kiosks beside Dubai Creek, moved to the Oud Metha area for some years, and then moved to its current, much larger site in the Dubailand area in 2005. A 2005 Gulf News report from that era describes a 750 square metre Nepal pavilion at the park, built to look like an old quarter of a Nepali town, with almost 30 stalls. That history may be why the question still comes up today.

Today the scale is very different. The Dubai Media Office release for Season 31 lists 29 pavilions representing more than 90 cultures, more than 3,500 shopping outlets, more than 250 dining options and around 40,000 shows across the season. The Carnaval area adds fairground rides and games, and there are walk through attractions, a lake with stage shows, and landscaped gardens.

How is the park laid out?

You enter through one of the main gates. The official site names Gate of the World, Cultural Gate and Happiness Gate, and the parking zones are described by their walking distance from these gates. Inside, the pavilions, stages, lake area, Carnaval and Restaurant Plaza (which sits beside Carnaval) are spread across a large site. The official app has the live map and show times, and the park's Wi-Fi is free, so download the app at your hotel and open the map as soon as you walk in.

Is there a Nepal pavilion at Global Village?

Illuminated country pavilion facade at Global Village Dubai with evening crowds outside

No, not on the official list for Season 31. We went through every page of the official pavilions list on 27 October 2026, and the 29 pavilions shown do not include Nepal, and there is no shared "Asia" pavilion that might include Nepal either. None of the Season 31 launch coverage from the Dubai Media Office, The National, Gulf News, Khaleej Times or Time Out Dubai mentions Nepal.

We want to be plain about this because it matters to many Nepali readers. There was a dedicated Nepal pavilion at Global Village in the mid 2000s; Gulf News and Khaleej Times reported on it in 2005, including its rebuild after a fire. That does not mean there is one now, and older articles about it can still turn up in search results. If seeing Nepali stalls is the main reason for your visit, ask at an information desk (the official site says multilingual staff are available) or check the app map on the day, and treat anything you find as a bonus rather than a promise.

QuestionWhat we could confirm
Is Nepal one of the 29 Season 31 pavilions? No. It is not on the official pavilion list.
Is Nepal part of a shared pavilion? No shared Asia pavilion appears on the list; Nepal is not named in any pavilion we could see.
Has there ever been a Nepal pavilion?Yes, in earlier years; Gulf News and Khaleej Times reported on one in 2005.
Could individual traders sell Nepali goods?Possible but not confirmed. Ask the vendor about origin, and check on arrival.
Where should you check on the day?Information desks, the official app map, or the Global Village help line on +971 4 567 5050

Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: globalvillage.ae pavilions list (all pages); Gulf News (2005) and Khaleej Times (2005) archive reports; Season 31 coverage from Dubai Media Office, The National, Gulf News, Khaleej Times and Time Out Dubai.

What is closest to home for Nepali visitors?

The South Asian pavilions are the closest to home for Nepali visitors. In Season 30 the park ran a "Light Up Your Diwali" programme centred on the India Pavilion, with a Diwali Mela, rangoli and the Indian Chaat Bazaar, from 17 to 23 October 2025. That falls close to the Tihar window, so a Season 31 Diwali programme is worth looking for if you visit in early November 2026, but we could not find a confirmed 2026 schedule on 27 October, so check the official events page. Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are the other South Asian pavilions; Time Out Dubai notes that Sri Lanka now has its own pavilion this season, having previously shared one with Bangladesh.

For families in the diaspora, the real value of Global Village is less about finding Nepal and more about an evening that works for everyone: grandparents who have just arrived from Kathmandu, children who grew up in the Gulf, and cousins who want rides.

Which pavilions and shows should you see?

With 29 pavilions and only one evening, pick a route rather than trying to see everything. A good first visit covers four or five pavilions that interest your group, one main stage show, a walk past the lake and, if you have children, an hour at Carnaval. Gulf News singled out Japan and Korea, India, Africa, Turkey and Egypt, and Yemen and Saudi Arabia as popular pavilions this season, and the Season 31 launch highlighted refreshed experiences at Sri Lanka, at the new combined Russia and Azerbaijan pavilion, and new façades at Syria and Kuwait.

How to choose your pavilions

  • First time in the Gulf: start with one Gulf pavilion (Saudi Arabia, Oman or the UAE) and one Levant pavilion to get a feel for the region's crafts and food.
  • Shoppers: the South Asian and Middle Eastern pavilions are the usual places to look for textiles, carpets, home décor and spices; compare a few stalls before buying.
  • Families with teenagers: the East Asian pavilions (Japan, Korea and Thailand), which Gulf News highlighted this season, then Carnaval.
  • Elderly parents: India and Sri Lanka for familiar food and music, plus Gardens of the World for a slower walk.
  • Collecting stamps: the redesigned Season 31 passport, and a new children's passport, can be stamped at each pavilion, which keeps children moving happily from one to the next.

Which shows are on in Season 31?

The official listing groups shows by venue: Main Stage, Lake Show, Kids Theatre, Stunt Zone, Cultural Stage and others. Show times change during the season, so check the "What's Hot Today" section of the official site or the app on the day.

Are there fireworks at Global Village?

Yes, fireworks are a regular part of the season, but the Season 31 schedule was not published on the official site when we checked on 27 October 2026. During Season 30, the official fireworks listing showed fireworks at 9:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesdays at the Main Stage, with a note that timings may change without notice. Season 30 also welcomed 2026 with seven fireworks displays and drone shows marking the new year in seven countries. Season 31's opening night featured a 600 drone show.

Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: globalvillage.ae Fireworks show listing and New Year's Eve 2026 news release; Dubai Media Office (13 Oct 2026). Gulf News (6 Oct 2026) reported that weekly parades and fireworks are planned for Season 31 without giving days.

What about Carnaval rides?

Carnaval is the fairground area of Global Village, and the official Carnaval page lists over 190 rides, games and attractions, from gentle children's rides to high intensity thrill rides. Rides are not included in the entry ticket. They are priced in points, which you buy separately (the official site sells bundles that combine an entry ticket with ride points), and each ride shows its own points value and height rule.

Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: globalvillage.ae Carnaval and Festival Wheel pages; Khaleej Times (15 Sep 2026); The National (15 Oct 2026). Height rules are as shown on the official ride pages; staff at each ride have the final say.

The Festival Wheel also sells a fast track option, which is worth knowing on weekend nights when queues are likely to be longer. Gulf News suggests going to Carnaval early in the evening, between about 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and saving the wheel and the high rides for after dark when the lights are on.

What food should you try at Global Village?

Golden fried dough balls cooking in a large pan, a sweet much like Emirati luqaimat

Eat little and often. With more than 250 dining options across the park, the best approach is to share three or four small dishes from different pavilions rather than one large meal, which is also the advice Gulf News gives in its Season 31 visitor guide.

Food areaWhat to expectWho it suits

Food tips for Nepali visitors

  • Familiar flavours: the Indian Chaat Bazaar and the South Asian pavilions are the safest choice for parents who prefer food close to home.
  • Vegetarian: chaat, Indian sweets, falafel, Arabic breads with dips and many desserts are vegetarian, but ask about ingredients at each stall.
  • Momos: without a Nepal pavilion, do not count on finding Nepali momos. Some Asian stalls sell dumplings, which is not the same thing.
  • Something new: try luqaimat (small sweet dumplings in date syrup), Turkish sweets and Thai desserts, which most visitors from Nepal will not find at home.
  • Pace yourself: share plates so the whole family can taste more without wasting food.

For the city's wider food scene, from Emirati dishes to Karama's cafeterias, see our guide on what to eat in Dubai.

How do you get to Global Village?

Global Village is in the Dubailand area off Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311), well away from the Metro, so you arrive by taxi or ride hailing, by the seasonal RTA bus from a Metro or bus station, or by car. For most visitors with family, a taxi there and back is the simplest choice; for budget travellers, the RTA bus works well for the trip there, with a taxi back if you stay late.

Which RTA buses go to Global Village?

The Roads and Transport Authority runs four seasonal bus routes to Global Village during the season. The official Global Village page names the start points by their nearest Metro station, while RTA and Gulf News give the bus station names; they are the same places.

RouteStarts fromNearest MetroFrequency
102Al Rashidiya Bus StationCentrepoint (formerly Rashidiya), Red LineEvery 60 minutes
103Union Bus Station, via Al Rebat StreetUnion, Red and Green LinesEvery 40 minutes
104Al Ghubaiba Bus Station, via Max Fashion Metro StationAl Ghubaiba, Green LineEvery 60 minutes
106Mall of the Emirates Bus Station, via Al Barsha and Al QuozMall of the Emirates, Red LineEvery 60 minutes

Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: globalvillage.ae Plan Your Visit page (routes, service hours); Gulf News (12 Oct 2026, Season 31 frequencies); RTA news release (13 Oct 2025, Season 30 routes and frequencies); RTA release on the 2021 renaming of Rashidiya as Centrepoint and Al Jafiliya as Max Fashion. For stops and timetables, call RTA on 800 9090.

Global Village says the buses run from about 3:15 pm to 11:15 pm daily and the trip takes about 30 minutes. Notice that the last bus leaves well before the park closes, so if you plan to stay for late shows or a Thursday to Saturday night until 1:00 am, budget for a taxi back. Pay with a Nol card, the same card you use on the Metro.

Which route suits where you are staying?

  • Deira and Bur Dubai, popular areas for budget stays: route 104 from Al Ghubaiba or route 103 from Union are the natural choices.
  • Near the airport and Rashidiya: route 102 from Al Rashidiya.
  • Al Barsha, Mall of the Emirates and the newer areas: route 106.
  • Downtown, Marina and Palm: a taxi is usually faster than connecting by Metro to a bus.

If you have not picked a base yet, our guide to where to stay in Dubai compares the areas for families, budgets and first timers.

Taxi, ride hailing and inside the park

The official site lists Careem, Uber and RTA taxis. Taxi queues can build at closing time on weekend nights, so leaving a little before closing, or after the main rush, can save waiting. Inside the park, the official site lists porter service, rickshaws (from AED 10) and in park taxis, which help when someone in the group cannot walk far. RTA also runs two electric abras on the park's waterways for short sightseeing trips.

Is Global Village good for families and elderly parents?

Yes. Global Village is one of the most family friendly evenings in Dubai: children under 3 enter free, seniors aged 65 and over enter free with ID, the whole park runs in the evening rather than the heat of the day, and there are rides for small children, shows for all ages, and seating and food spread across the site. The main challenge is walking distance, so plan the evening around how far your youngest and oldest can comfortably walk.

Checked: 27 Oct 2026, globalvillage.ae Plan Your Visit page and help line listing. The National (15 Oct 2026) also reported more family washrooms, including accessible ones, for Season 31.

Tips for children

Register the free wristband at the entrance, check ride height rules before promising a ride (from 110 cm on the gentler rides to 140 cm on the thrill rides), and use the Kids Theatre and The Little Wonderers indoor park for younger children. Bring a light jacket from December to February, as evenings in the open can feel cool.

Tips for elderly parents visiting from Nepal

If you live in the UAE and are hosting parents from Nepal this winter, Global Village is an easy evening to share. A few things make it easier:

  • Carry ID: free entry for those aged 65 and over needs proof of age, so bring the passport.
  • Arrive by taxi and use the nearest gate: free parking is 400 metres or more from the gates, and overflow parking is about a kilometre away.
  • Go early on a weekday: arriving soon after 4:00 pm on a Sunday, Monday or Wednesday usually means fewer crowds.
  • Use rickshaws and wheelchairs: both are available inside the park, and staff can help.
  • Plan two or three hours, not five: pick a few pavilions, one show and a sit down meal at Restaurant Plaza, then leave before the late crowd.
  • Keep the Diwali window in mind: if your parents arrive around Tihar, check whether the India pavilion is running Diwali events that week.

Our full guide to Dubai with family covers theme parks, beaches and hotels that work for children and grandparents across the rest of the trip.

When is Global Village least crowded?

The quietest times at Global Village are weekday evenings from Sunday to Wednesday, especially soon after the 4:00 pm opening. Friday and Saturday nights, public holidays, New Year's Eve and the Eid holidays are the busiest. Gulf News also recommends weekdays, which are quieter and, with the Weekday ticket, a little cheaper from Monday to Thursday.

Hours checked: 27 Oct 2026, globalvillage.ae. Crowd levels are our planning guide based on the weekend pattern and Gulf News advice, not official figures.

Which months are best?

The park is open from mid October, but the evenings become properly comfortable from November. Our month by month guide to the best time to visit Dubai covers temperatures in detail. In short, October evenings are still warm, November to March are the most pleasant, and late April and May get hot again, though the park only opens at 4:00 pm.

PeriodWhat to expect at Global VillageNepal angle

Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Dashain and Tihar dates as published in our Dashain and Tihar guide (government holiday calendar); hours and season from globalvillage.ae.

For Nepali travellers, the Dashain and Tihar break lines up neatly with the first weeks of the season. If you are deciding where to go for the festival holidays, our guide to Dashain and Tihar holidays abroad compares Dubai with the other short haul options from Kathmandu.

How should you plan your Global Village evening?

Plan one evening of three to five hours, arrive close to 4:00 pm on a weekday, decide on four or five pavilions and one show in advance, and leave the rides until after dark. Download the official app before you go for the map and show times.

A simple evening timeline

TimeWhat to doWhy
About 4:00 pmArrive, register the child wristband, rent a wheelchair or stroller if neededShortest queues and daylight photos
4:30 pm to 6:30 pmWalk through your chosen pavilions and shopStalls are calmer before the evening rush
6:00 pm to 7:00 pmCarnaval for younger childrenSuggested by Gulf News for shorter waits

About 9:00 pmMain Stage area if fireworks are listed for that nightCheck the app for the Season 31 schedule
After darkFestival Wheel for the viewSkyline and park lights

This is our suggested pacing, not an official schedule. The 9:00 pm fireworks slot is based on the Season 30 listing.

Shopping tips

  • Compare before you buy: the same carpets, shawls, spices and cushion covers often appear in several stalls; Gulf News advises comparing prices before buying souvenirs.
  • Carry small notes: not every vendor takes cards, so keep some dirhams in small denominations along with a card.
  • Ask about origin: if you are looking for Nepali or Himalayan style goods, ask where they were made; labels are not always clear.
  • Think about weight: heavy items such as carpets and brass eat into your baggage allowance on the flight home.
  • Know your customs limits: if you are flying back to Kathmandu with gifts, read our Nepal customs allowance guide before you shop.

For the souks, malls and the Dubai Shopping Festival, see our wider Dubai shopping guide.

Park rules worth knowing

  • Dress modestly and avoid public displays of affection.
  • Pets are not permitted.
  • Scooters, bicycles, segways, hoverboards, skateboards and roller skates are not allowed.
  • Filming requires a permit under the official rules; if you plan anything beyond personal photos, ask guest services first.

Can you combine Global Village with Dubai Miracle Garden?

Yes, and the opening hours make it easy. Dubai Miracle Garden opened its Season 15 on 8 October 2026 and is expected to run until 31 May 2027, according to Khaleej Times. The garden opens from 9:00 am; closing time varies by day (9:00 pm to 11:00 pm), so check the official garden website for your date, and note that last entry is 30 minutes before closing. Global Village opens at 4:00 pm, so you can see the garden in the afternoon and move to Global Village for the evening. The two are about 7 km apart in a straight line, and further by road, so take a taxi between them.

The 7 km figure is our own straight line calculation from the two sites' map coordinates.

In October the afternoon sun is still strong, so if you are combining the two on a Dashain trip, aim to reach the garden around 3:00 pm and move on to Global Village as the heat fades. From November to March, the combination is comfortable for most families, though with elderly parents it is kinder to keep them on separate days.

Before you fly from Kathmandu

Non-stop flights from Kathmandu to Dubai take roughly four and a half to five hours, and since 23 September 2026 flydubai has also flown non-stop from Pokhara, which helps families from Gandaki Province (check it operates on your dates, as schedule data lists it as seasonal). Entry rules for the UAE depend on your passport and residence status, so check the latest requirements on our visa information page well before you travel. Global Village usually fits into a wider city break, and you can compare options on our Dubai tour packages page.

Frequently asked questions

When does the 2026 to 27 Global Village season open?

Global Village Season 31 opened on Wednesday 14 October 2026, with opening night gates from 6:00 pm, and runs until May 2027. As of 27 October 2026, the exact closing day had not been announced on globalvillage.ae. Closing dates are usually confirmed near the end of the season and have been extended before.

Is there a Nepal pavilion at Global Village Dubai?

No. Nepal is not one of the 29 pavilions on the official Global Village Season 31 list, which we checked on 27 October 2026, and there is no shared Asia pavilion. There was a Nepal pavilion in the mid 2000s, but not now. Ask at an information desk on arrival if you are looking for Nepali goods.

What time does Global Village open?

Global Village opens at 4:00 pm every day of the season. It closes at midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and at 1:00 am from Thursday to Saturday and on public holidays. Tuesdays are reserved for ladies, families and couples, except public holidays. Hours can change on special nights, so check the official site.

Are there fireworks at Global Village?

Yes, Global Village holds regular fireworks, but the Season 31 schedule was not published when we checked on 27 October 2026. In Season 30 the official listing showed fireworks at 9:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesdays at the Main Stage, plus seven displays on New Year's Eve. Check the app for current nights.

How do I get to Global Village by public transport?

Take one of four seasonal RTA buses to Global Village: route 102 from Al Rashidiya, 103 from Union, 104 from Al Ghubaiba and 106 from Mall of the Emirates. Global Village says buses run from about 3:15 pm to 11:15 pm and take about 30 minutes. Use a Nol card, and plan a taxi back if you stay late.

Is Global Village good for kids?

Yes. Global Village suits children well: under 3s enter free, Carnaval has rides for small children as well as thrill rides, and the Kids Theatre has Care Bears and PJ Masks this season. Register the free child safety wristband at the entrance and check ride height rules, which start at 110 cm on the official ride pages.

Can you buy Nepali products at Global Village?

We could not confirm a Nepali seller at Global Village for Season 31, because there is no Nepal pavilion on the official list. Some stalls may sell Himalayan style shawls or crafts, but ask the vendor where items are made. If Nepali products matter to you, check with the information desk on arrival.

Which day is least crowded at Global Village?

Weekday evenings from Sunday to Wednesday, soon after the 4:00 pm opening, are usually the quietest times at Global Village. Friday and Saturday nights, public holidays, New Year's Eve and the Eid holidays are the busiest. Remember that Tuesdays are for ladies, families and couples only, and the Weekday ticket covers Monday to Thursday.

Is Global Village open in summer?

No. Global Village is a seasonal park that closes for the hot summer months and reopens in October. Season 31 runs from 14 October 2026 to May 2027. If you are visiting Dubai between June and September, plan indoor attractions instead, and check the official site for the next season's announced dates.

How long should I spend at Global Village?

Plan three to five hours at Global Village for a first visit. That is enough for four or five pavilions, a meal, one stage show and some rides. With elderly parents or very young children, two to three hours on a weekday evening is often enough. Shoppers and ride fans can easily stay until closing.

Domed pavilion with minarets lit in warm gold lights at Global Village Dubai

How should you plan your Global Village evening?

Plan one evening of three to five hours, arrive close to 4:00 pm on a weekday, decide on four or five pavilions and one show in advance, and leave the rides until after dark. Download the official app before you go for the map and show times.

About 4:00 pmArrive, register the child wristband, rent a wheelchair or stroller if neededShortest queues and daylight photos
