Short answer: Yes, you can fly nonstop from Kathmandu to Dubai every day. flydubai is the main airline, with about four or five flights a day, and Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines also fly the route. Emirates does not send its own aircraft to Kathmandu, but it sells seats on flydubai flights. A nonstop Kathmandu to Dubai flight takes about 4 hours 40 minutes to 5 hours 15 minutes, and the flight from Dubai back to Nepal takes about 4 hours. Air Arabia flies nonstop to nearby Sharjah, and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flies to Abu Dhabi. The UAE is 1 hour 45 minutes behind Nepal. Which airlines fly from Kathmandu to Dubai?
Three airlines fly nonstop between Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) and Dubai International (DXB): flydubai, Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines. flydubai carries most of the traffic. Its own route page says it runs 34 direct flights a week from Kathmandu to Dubai, and KAYAK's count over the last three months shows 28 a week for flydubai, about 7 for Himalaya Airlines and 2 to 3 for Nepal Airlines. Flight-tracking pages that count only some flight numbers show lower totals, so use the airline's own timetable for your dates.
| Airline | Route | How often (winter 2026 to 2027) | Aircraft | Dubai terminal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| flydubai | Kathmandu to Dubai International | About 4 to 5 a day (34 a week on flydubai's page) | Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 737-800 | Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 |
| Himalaya Airlines | Kathmandu to Dubai International | About daily (KAYAK, last 3 months) | Airbus A320 (flight-tracking data) | Terminal 2 |
| Nepal Airlines | Kathmandu to Dubai International | About 2 to 4 a week, mostly late night | Airbus A320 | Terminal 2 |
| Air Arabia | Kathmandu to Sharjah | About 4 a day (28 a week on KAYAK) | Airbus A320 and A321 | Sharjah International, not Dubai |
| Air Arabia Abu Dhabi | Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi | About once a day in October 2026 | Airbus A320 | Zayed International, Abu Dhabi |
| Emirates | Codeshare only | Seats on flydubai flights under EK numbers | flydubai aircraft | As for flydubai |

The flydubai timetable from Kathmandu
flydubai's flights are spread across the day, which is why it suits most travellers: a late-night departure that lands in Dubai before dawn, an afternoon flight, and an evening flight that lands before midnight. flydubai's own page gives the first Kathmandu departure as FZ 574 at about 00:30 and the last as FZ 1596 at about 20:05. The northern winter schedule started on 25 October 2026, and several flights moved by 10 to 30 minutes on that date, so the times below are approximate.
| Flight | Route | Departs (local) | Arrives (local) | Scheduled time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FZ 574 | Kathmandu to Dubai | About 00:30 to 00:45 | About 04:05 to 04:15 | About 5 h 15 min |
| FZ 540 | Kathmandu to Dubai | About 15:00 | About 18:25 | About 5 h 10 min |
| FZ 1596 | Kathmandu to Dubai | About 19:55 to 20:05 | About 22:50 | About 4 h 40 min |
| FZ 539 | Dubai to Kathmandu | About 08:15 | About 14:00 | About 4 h |
| FZ 573 | Dubai to Kathmandu | About 17:45 to 18:00 | About 23:30 to 23:45 | About 4 h |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: flydubai route pages (first and last flights), FlightMapper schedule data from 25 Oct 2026 and Avionio flight history. Only the flights we could confirm are listed; flydubai runs more flights than this table shows. Your booking is the final word on times.
Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines
Both Nepali carriers have flown Airbus A320 jets on the route, and both use Terminal 2 at Dubai International, according to the Dubai Airports airline directory. Nepal Airlines' RA 229 usually leaves Kathmandu around 23:15 to 23:30 and lands in Dubai at about 02:25 to 02:40, so it is a red-eye flight. Himalaya Airlines flies about daily. Both have far fewer flights a day than flydubai, so if one is cancelled you may wait longer for the next seat.
The corridor is not immune to shocks. On 28 February 2026, Dubai and Abu Dhabi international airports told passengers not to come to the airport, and Nepal Airlines cancelled its Dubai and Doha flights, as airspace over parts of West Asia closed after US and Israeli strikes on Iran. From 11 March 2026 Nepal Airlines ran special flights to bring home Nepalis stranded at Dubai (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, ekantipur, 28 Feb 2026, ekantipur, 28 Feb 2026, B360 Nepal, 11 Mar 2026 and ShareSansar, 13 Mar 2026). Schedules have since been rebuilt, but it is a good reason to keep the airline's app installed and to buy travel insurance before you fly.
Does Emirates fly to Kathmandu?
Not with its own aircraft. Emirates sells seats on flydubai's Kathmandu flights under Emirates flight numbers. For example, EK 2446 is a codeshare on flydubai's FZ 539 from Dubai to Kathmandu. You may book on emirates.com and still fly on a flydubai Boeing 737, so check the Dubai terminal on your ticket as you would for any flydubai flight. The advantage is one ticket, with bags checked through to Emirates' wider network. Fare comparison sites sometimes list "Emirates" among nonstop airlines on this route for exactly this reason. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, FlightMapper, EK 2446 operated by flydubai.)
Can you fly to Dubai from Pokhara instead?
Yes. On 23 September 2026 flydubai began daily flights between Pokhara International Airport and Dubai International, which The Kathmandu Post described as the first daily scheduled international service from Pokhara, using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 with arrivals at Terminal 3 in Dubai. flydubai's route page shows one evening departure from Pokhara, about 4 hours 50 minutes to Dubai. The Kathmandu Post reported flydubai's Nepal manager saying Pokhara fares to major destinations are generally a few thousand rupees lower than from Kathmandu. For families in Gandaki Province and western Nepal, this can save the drive or domestic flight to the capital. Weather can still cancel Pokhara flights; one early flight was cancelled for bad weather. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, The Kathmandu Post, 23 Sep 2026 and Nepal News, 27 Sep 2026.)
How long is the flight from Nepal to Dubai?
The nonstop flight from Nepal to Dubai is scheduled at about 4 hours 40 minutes to 5 hours 15 minutes, depending on the flight and the airline, and the return from Dubai to Nepal at about 4 hours. The straight-line distance between Kathmandu and Dubai is about 2,990 km (1,857 miles). flydubai's own page gives 4 h 59 min for Kathmandu to Dubai and 4 h 00 min for Dubai to Kathmandu.
| Journey | Typical scheduled time | Distance |
|---|---|---|
| Kathmandu to Dubai (DXB), nonstop | About 4 h 40 min to 5 h 15 min | About 2,990 km |
| Dubai (DXB) to Kathmandu, nonstop | About 4 h | About 2,990 km |
| Kathmandu to Sharjah (SHJ), nonstop | About 4 h 25 min to 5 h | About 2,970 km |
| Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi (AUH), nonstop | About 4 h 40 min to 5 h 20 min | About 3,080 km |
| Pokhara to Dubai (DXB), nonstop | About 4 h 50 min | Not published by the airline |
| One stop, for example via Kuwait or Delhi | Often 8 to 15 h or more | Depends on the hub |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: flydubai route pages, FlightMapper and Avionio scheduled times, FlightConnections (distances). The one-stop row is our estimate from published flight times plus a typical layover, not a quote.
Why is the Dubai to Kathmandu flight shorter?
Mostly wind. Flying west from Kathmandu to the Gulf, aircraft fly into the prevailing westerly winds at cruising height, which are strongest in winter. Flying east back to Nepal, the same winds push the aircraft along. Airlines build that into the timetable, which is why the same pair of airports shows about 5 hours one way and about 4 hours the other. The clock makes the difference look bigger: because Nepal is 1 hour 45 minutes ahead, a 4-hour flight home looks like almost 6 hours on your watch.
Dubai to Nepal flight time, for workers and families going home
For Nepalis living or working in the UAE, the daytime FZ 539 (Dubai about 08:15, Kathmandu about 14:00) and the evening FZ 573 (Dubai about 17:45 to 18:00, Kathmandu about 23:30 to 23:45) are the two easiest ways home on flydubai. A family meeting you at Tribhuvan will find the afternoon arrival far easier than one near midnight. Air Arabia's G9 530 from Sharjah left at 16:00 and reached Kathmandu at 21:40 in late October 2026 (Avionio flight history).
Which Dubai terminal will you arrive at?
From Kathmandu you will arrive at Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 of Dubai International. Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines use Terminal 2. flydubai uses both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 for Kathmandu. Its Terminal 3 page marks Kathmandu as "operating from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3", so the terminal depends on the individual flight. Your e-ticket and the flydubai app show which one you have. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, flydubai, Terminal 3 operations and Dubai Airports airline directory.)
| Terminal | Who uses it (Kathmandu route) | Metro station | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terminal 2 | flydubai (some flights), Himalaya Airlines, Nepal Airlines | No | Smaller terminal on the north side of the airport, road access from Al Twar and Rashidiya; taxis and buses at arrivals |
| Terminal 3 | flydubai (some flights), including flydubai flights sold by Emirates | Yes, Red Line | Emirates' huge home terminal; long walks to some gates |
| Terminal 1 | Not used by nonstop Kathmandu flights; used by Air India, IndiGo, Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways for one-stop trips | Yes, Red Line | Most foreign airlines |
| Dubai World Central (DWC) | No nonstop Kathmandu flights found for winter 2026 to 2027 | No | A separate airport south of the city; always check the code on your ticket |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: Dubai Airports airline directory and Dubai Airports Terminal 2 fact page, flydubai Terminal 3 page, Dubai Airports metro page.
Why the terminal matters: Terminal 2 has no metro station, so arriving there means a taxi, ride-hailing app or bus. Terminal 3 is linked to the Red Line. Terminal 2 is a much smaller building, with 12 gates and 43 remote stands, so you may board or leave the aircraft by bus. If you are meeting family, tell them the terminal as well as the flight number, because Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are on different sides of the airport and are reached by different roads. Our Dubai stopover and layover guide explains the terminal layout and connection times in more detail.
Should you fly to Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi?

Fly to Dubai International if Dubai is your destination and you want the widest choice of flights. Sharjah can work well if you are staying in Sharjah or Deira, or if Air Arabia's fare or timing suits you better. Abu Dhabi makes sense if you are visiting the capital first or staying there. All three airports have nonstop flights from Kathmandu, and the drive between them is short compared with the flight.
| Airport | Nonstop airline from Kathmandu | Distance to Dubai International by road | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai International (DXB) | flydubai, Himalaya Airlines, Nepal Airlines | Already in Dubai | Most Dubai holidays, most choice of times |
| Sharjah International (SHJ) | Air Arabia | About 28 km | Staying in Sharjah or Deira, workers based in the northern emirates, Air Arabia fares |
| Abu Dhabi, Zayed International (AUH) | Air Arabia Abu Dhabi | About 123 km | Abu Dhabi first, then Dubai; families visiting relatives in Abu Dhabi |
| Dubai World Central (DWC) | None found for winter 2026 to 2027 | South of Dubai | Not relevant for Kathmandu flights this season |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: KAYAK and FlightConnections route pages; road distances from Rome2rio, which are approximate.
Kathmandu to Sharjah on Air Arabia
Air Arabia is the only airline flying nonstop between Kathmandu and Sharjah, with about 28 flights a week over the last three months on KAYAK's count. FlightConnections' sample timetable shows departures from Kathmandu at about 09:25, 14:30, 22:20 and 23:45. G9 531 left Kathmandu at 22:20 and landed in Sharjah at 01:35 in late October 2026. The flight takes about 4 hours 25 minutes to 5 hours.
Sharjah's airport is about 28 km by road from Dubai International. A taxi takes about 20 to 25 minutes in light traffic, but Sharjah to Dubai traffic at rush hour is notorious and can add a lot of time. Air Arabia runs a coach from Sharjah airport to Al Ghurair Centre in Deira, with a handful of trips a day rather than an hourly service (Wego, updated July 2026). If you arrive on the 01:35 landing, plan on a taxi.
Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi flights
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is the only airline flying nonstop from Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport. Etihad Airways does not fly its own aircraft to Kathmandu now; it sells seats on the Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flight as EY 1385. In October 2026 the flight, 3L 44, left Kathmandu at about 09:55 to 10:10 and landed in Abu Dhabi at about 13:05 to 13:25, almost every day. KAYAK counted 7 flights a week over the last three months, while FlightConnections showed a twice-weekly pattern for late October. Check the airline's own timetable before you build plans around it. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, FlightMapper, Etihad KTM to AUH codeshare, Avionio 3L 44 history, KAYAK and FlightConnections KTM to AUH.)
Zayed International is about 123 km by road from Dubai International, roughly 1 hour 10 minutes by car without heavy traffic. Dubai's RTA bus E102 links the airport with Dubai, with a change to the Metro at Ibn Battuta for the city, and the bus journey is close to 2 hours (Rome2rio, checked 27 Oct 2026; confirm on the RTA app). If you plan to see both cities, fly into Abu Dhabi, spend a day or two there, and finish in Dubai. Our Abu Dhabi day trip from Dubai shows what you can fit in.
What about Dubai World Central?
We found no scheduled nonstop flights between Kathmandu and Dubai World Central, also called Al Maktoum International (DWC), for the winter 2026 to 2027 season. Himalaya Airlines flew into DWC for a time (Gulf News, 2018), and Dubai Airports still lists DWC among flydubai's airports, so it is worth one look at the three-letter code on your ticket. DXB and DWC are far apart, and going to the wrong one costs hours.
What should you prepare at Kathmandu airport?

Arrive at Tribhuvan International about three hours before an international flight to Dubai. Have your passport and the travel documents for your trip ready, and know your baggage allowance before you pack, because it depends on the fare type, not just the airline. Our Kathmandu airport international departure guide walks through check-in, emigration and security at TIA step by step.
How much baggage can you take to Dubai?
On flydubai and Air Arabia, the cheapest fares may not include any checked bag. Read your fare type before you pay. A cheap ticket can end up costing more once a 20 kg bag is added at the airport.
| Airline and fare | Checked baggage | Cabin baggage |
|---|---|---|
| flydubai Economy Lite | None included | 1 bag up to 7 kg (55 x 38 x 20 cm); a small personal item is allowed but counts within the 7 kg |
| flydubai Economy Value | 20 kg | As above |
| flydubai Economy Flex | 30 kg | As above |
| flydubai Business | 40 kg | Business allowance |
| Air Arabia Basic (UAE routes) | Not included; a fee applies | 7 kg bag plus 3 kg personal item |
| Air Arabia Value (UAE routes) | 20 or 30 kg, depending on route | 7 kg bag plus 3 kg personal item |
| Air Arabia Ultimate (UAE routes) | 30 or 40 kg, depending on route | 7 kg bag plus 3 kg personal item |
| Himalaya Airlines, Nepal Airlines | Shown on your ticket; check when booking | Shown on your ticket |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: flydubai checked baggage, flydubai hand baggage, Air Arabia fare types. We could not find a current baggage page for the Nepali carriers' Dubai route, so follow your ticket.
Two flydubai rules matter for families carrying gifts and food home: each checked piece must weigh under 32 kg, and on its weight system you can split your allowance over up to three pieces. Pack heavy items such as rice cookers or dry fruit in more than one bag rather than one overloaded suitcase.
Tourists and workers: two different journeys
Many people on Kathmandu to Dubai flights are going to work, and the paperwork for a work trip is different from a holiday. Neither journey is better than the other, but mixing them up causes most of the trouble at the airport.
- Going to work. Nepal's Department of Immigration asks workers to travel only after their labour approval has actually been issued, not just applied for, because without it they cannot get departure clearance at Tribhuvan (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Onlinekhabar, 31 May 2026). Confirm your status with your recruiting agency or the Department of Foreign Employment before you leave home.
- Going on holiday or to visit family. Nepal's Department of Immigration has turned back thousands of visit-visa travellers at Tribhuvan, mostly bound for Qatar and the UAE, whom it believed were heading abroad for work through agents (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Himalpress, 3 Feb 2024). So immigration officers may ask about the purpose of your trip. Answer plainly; what they may ask to see is covered by our visa team.
- Going home from Dubai. Returning workers and residents fly back the other way, often around Dashain and Tihar. Check what you can bring into Nepal in our guide to the Nepal customs allowance for returning travellers.
Nepali passport holders need a UAE visa arranged before they fly, because Nepal is not on the UAE visa on arrival list (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Emirates UAE visa information); for the current position, see our page on the visa process for Nepali passport holders. On any other passport, check the official site for your passport before you book.
If this is your first international flight, our first-time flying tips explain check-in, boarding and arrival in plain language, and the foreign currency limit when leaving Nepal tells you how much cash you can carry.
How do you get from Dubai airport to the city?

From Terminal 3 or Terminal 1, the Dubai Metro Red Line is the cheapest way into the city. From Terminal 2, where many Kathmandu flights arrive, there is no metro, so take a taxi, a ride-hailing car or a bus. Taxis run 24 hours from ranks at every terminal, which matters for the flights that land between about 02:30 and 04:15.
| Option | Where | Hours | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai Metro, Red Line | Airport Terminal 1 and Airport Terminal 3 stations | Monday to Thursday and Saturday 05:00 to midnight; Friday 05:00 to 01:00; Sunday 08:00 to midnight | Light luggage, budget travellers, daytime arrivals at Terminal 3 |
| Taxi (Dubai Taxi) | Taxi ranks at every terminal | 24 hours | Terminal 2 arrivals, night arrivals, families and elderly parents |
| Ride-hailing (Careem, Uber, Bolt) | Signposted pick-up points | 24 hours | Travellers with a working UAE SIM or eSIM |
| Public bus | Bus stands at arrivals in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 | Varies by route | Budget travellers going to Deira or Bur Dubai with a Nol card |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: Dubai Airports, Metro, Dubai Airports, Taxi and Dubai Airports, Bus; RTA, About Dubai Metro. Metro hours change on public holidays. Fares change, so they are not listed here.
Metro rules worth knowing
- Two bags only. Dubai Airports says you can take up to two pieces including hand luggage, and RTA sets the size: one large case up to 81 x 58 x 30 cm and one small one up to 55 x 38 x 20 cm. A family with three big suitcases should take a taxi.
- Buy a Nol card. Buses do not take cash. Nol cards are sold at airport terminals and metro stations and work on the metro, buses and water taxis.
- Sunday mornings start late. The metro opens at 08:00 on Sundays. FZ 574 lands at about 04:00, so even at Terminal 3 you would wait hours for the first train. Take a taxi.
- Terminal 2 means road transport. If your ticket says Terminal 2, plan on a taxi or ride-hail from the start.
Once you are in the city, our Dubai travel guide covers the areas, the metro and what to see first, and our guide to where to stay in Dubai helps you pick an area close to a metro station.
What is the time difference between Nepal and the UAE?
The UAE is 1 hour 45 minutes behind Nepal all year. Nepal uses UTC+5:45 and the UAE uses UTC+4, and neither country changes its clocks for daylight saving, so the gap never moves. The same time applies in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
| When it is this time in Kathmandu | It is this time in Dubai |
|---|---|
| 06:00 | 04:15 |
| 12:00 noon | 10:15 |
| 15:00 (FZ 540 departs) | 13:15 |
| 20:00 | 18:15 |
| 00:30 (FZ 574 departs) | 22:45 the previous evening |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Source: Quarter to Twelve time converter (Kathmandu UTC+5:45, Dubai UTC+4).
For families calling between the two countries, the rule is simple: add 1 hour 45 minutes to Dubai time to get Nepal time. A worker finishing a shift at 18:00 in Dubai is calling home at 19:45 in Kathmandu. The time difference also explains a puzzle on the timetable. FZ 574 leaves Kathmandu at about 00:30 and lands in Dubai at about 04:00, which looks like three and a half hours, but the real flight time is about five hours.
Can you stop over in Dubai on the way to Europe or Africa?
Yes. Dubai is a natural connecting point for Nepali travellers heading to Europe, Africa and beyond. flydubai and Emirates share codes, so one ticket from Kathmandu can include a flydubai flight to Dubai and an Emirates or flydubai flight onward, with bags checked through. The Kathmandu Post reported that the codeshare gives Pokhara passengers single-ticket connections to more than 250 cities, and the same codeshare covers Kathmandu.
| Situation | What usually happens | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| One ticket, flydubai to flydubai, same terminal | Stay airside and walk to the next gate | Your onward gate on the screens |
| One ticket, flydubai Terminal 2 to Emirates Terminal 3 | A change of terminal, which takes time; Dubai Airports does not publish the route from Terminal 2 | Allow a generous connection; ask your airline or the airport's guest staff on arrival |
| Separate tickets | Collect bags, pass UAE immigration, check in again | You need UAE entry permission; plan several hours |
| Long layover you want to spend in the city | Leave the airport if your visa allows | Transit or visit visa rules for your passport |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: flydubai connections page, Dubai Airports transfers page, The Kathmandu Post (23 Sep 2026).
Inside Terminal 3, Dubai Airports says you can walk between the B and C gates and take the airport train to the A gates, and a short train ride reaches Terminal 1's D gates. It does not publish a route from Terminal 2's F gates, and advises asking your airline or the airport's guest staff on arrival. In practice, a connection that starts at Terminal 2 needs more time than one that stays in Terminal 3. For what to do with a long layover, whether you can leave the airport, and where to rest if you cannot, the Dubai stopover guide linked above covers each case.

How much does a Kathmandu to Dubai flight cost by season?
Economy fares from Kathmandu to Dubai typically fall in a band of about NPR 27,000 to 61,000 one way and about NPR 60,000 to 106,000 return, depending on the season, the airline and whether you fly nonstop. The table below is a typical range, not a quote. It is drawn from what airline and fare comparison sites showed on the day we checked, and the fare you are offered can sit outside it.
| Season (travel dates) | Typical one-way economy (NPR) | Typical return economy (NPR) | Label, checked date and source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak: Dashain and Tihar (October to mid November) | About 27,000 to 61,000 | About 70,000 to 106,000 | Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, flydubai, KAYAK, Skyscanner, momondo |
| Peak: Christmas, New Year and winter school holidays (December to January) | About 30,000 to 57,000 | About 60,000 to 80,000 | Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, flydubai, KAYAK, Skyscanner, momondo |
| Peak: Nepali New Year and summer holidays (April to May) | About 32,000 to 50,000 | About 61,000 to 90,000 | Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, KAYAK, Skyscanner, momondo |
| Shoulder (February to March) | About 32,000 to 46,000 | About 60,000 to 80,000 | Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, flydubai, KAYAK, Skyscanner |
| Off-peak: Nepal monsoon (June to September) | About 31,000 to 50,000 | About 70,000 to 96,000 | Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, KAYAK, Skyscanner |
Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: flydubai Kathmandu to Dubai (lowest nonstop fares by month in NPR, collected within the previous 48 hours); KAYAK KTM to DXB and KAYAK DXB to KTM (12-month median return fares by month, in US dollars); Skyscanner KTM to DXB (lowest one-way fares by month, in US dollars); momondo Kathmandu to Dubai (typical return range, updated 23 Oct 2026). Google Flights did not load for us on the day we checked. US dollar figures were converted to NPR at Nepal Rastra Bank reference rates for October 2026 and rounded. One-way evidence is thinner than return evidence, so treat one-way ranges as a guide only.
How to read these ranges
- The low end is usually a one-stop. The cheapest fares we saw were on Jazeera Airways or Kuwait Airways via Kuwait, or Air India via Delhi. Nepal Airlines' nonstop also showed up near the low end on momondo and Skyscanner. flydubai's own lowest nonstop fares by month sat in the middle or upper part of each band, and were highest for October travel.
- The monsoon is not cheap on this route. On KAYAK's 12-month view, June was the dearest month for return trips from Kathmandu to Dubai, followed by May. Summer demand on the Gulf side keeps fares up, so do not expect monsoon bargains.
- December was the cheapest month from Kathmandu on KAYAK. January was the cheapest month in the Dubai to Kathmandu direction. Early and mid December dates are worth checking for a winter Dubai trip, when the weather there is at its best.
- Dashain and Tihar push fares both ways. October was the dearest month for Dubai to Kathmandu on KAYAK, as Nepalis in the UAE fly home for the festivals. If your dates are fixed around Dashain, search early.
- Pokhara can be a little cheaper. flydubai's own fares from Pokhara were in a similar band to Kathmandu on the day we checked, and its Nepal manager has said Pokhara fares are generally a few thousand rupees lower.
- Prices move daily. Use these ranges to judge whether a fare looks reasonable, then book from a live search on the airline's site or a fare comparison site.

Which flight suits families, workers, elderly parents and first-time visitors?
The nonstop flights suit almost everyone on this route, because they are short and frequent. The real choice is which time of day, which airport and which fare type. Here is how we would match them to the travellers who ask us most often.
| Traveller | Our suggestion | Why |

A few practical points:
- Vegetarian meals. Whether a meal is included depends on the airline and the fare type, so check your fare. Where the airline offers it, pre-order a vegetarian meal when you book, or carry a snack that meets security rules.
- Night arrivals. FZ 574 and RA 229 land in Dubai in the small hours. Book your first hotel night from the previous evening, or you will wait in the lobby until afternoon check-in.
- Travel insurance. The 2026 closure of Dubai airport showed how quickly plans can change. Our travel insurance guide for Nepali travellers explains what cover to look for.
How did we check the facts in this guide?
We checked every schedule, rule and fare in this guide on 27 October 2026. Airlines and frequencies came from flydubai's own route pages, KAYAK, FlightConnections and momondo route data. Flight times came from FlightMapper and Avionio schedule data for the northern winter season that started on 25 October 2026. Terminals came from the Dubai Airports airline directory and flydubai's Terminal 3 page. Ground transport came from Dubai Airports and the RTA, and baggage rules from flydubai and Air Arabia. Nepal-side rules and events came from Nepali news reports, with their dates. Fare ranges are typical ranges, not quotes. Where sources disagreed, we give the range, name the sources and point you to your own booking. We could not confirm Himalaya Airlines' winter timetable from a primary source, so we give only its frequency.
How should you plan the rest of your Dubai trip?
Once the flight is settled, the rest of a Dubai trip falls into place quickly. With afternoon or evening flights in both directions, a four-night trip gives you about four full days on the ground. The Dubai travel guide helps you choose what to see first, and the trip cost guide above sets realistic expectations for daily spending. Frequently asked questions
How much is a flight from Kathmandu to Dubai?
A Kathmandu to Dubai economy fare typically runs about NPR 27,000 to 61,000 one way and NPR 60,000 to 106,000 return, depending on the season and whether you fly nonstop. This is a typical range, not a quote (checked 27 Oct 2026, flydubai, KAYAK, Skyscanner, momondo). Dashain and Tihar, May and June were among the dearest periods.
How many hours is the flight from Kathmandu to Dubai?
The nonstop flight from Kathmandu to Dubai takes about 4 hours 40 minutes to 5 hours 15 minutes, depending on the flight. flydubai lists 4 hours 59 minutes. Because Dubai is 1 hour 45 minutes behind Nepal, a flight leaving Kathmandu at 00:30 lands in Dubai at about 04:00 local time.
Why is the Dubai to Kathmandu flight a different length?
The Dubai to Kathmandu flight is about 4 hours, roughly an hour shorter than the flight to Dubai, mainly because of winds. Westerly winds at cruising height slow aircraft flying west to the Gulf and help them flying east to Nepal. Airlines build this into their timetables, which is why the two directions differ.
Which terminal does flydubai use?
flydubai's Kathmandu flights use Dubai International Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, depending on the flight. flydubai marks Kathmandu as operating from both terminals, so check your e-ticket or the flydubai app. Terminal 3 has a Red Line metro station; Terminal 2 does not, so plan on a taxi from there.
How far is Sharjah airport from Dubai?
Sharjah International Airport is about 28 km by road from Dubai International, roughly 20 to 25 minutes by taxi in light traffic, though rush-hour traffic between Sharjah and Dubai can make it much longer. Air Arabia flies nonstop from Kathmandu to Sharjah, and it runs a coach from the airport to Deira a few times a day.
Does Emirates fly to Kathmandu?
Emirates does not fly its own aircraft to Kathmandu. It sells seats on flydubai's Kathmandu flights under Emirates flight numbers, such as EK 2446 on flydubai's FZ 539. You can book on Emirates and fly on a flydubai Boeing 737, with one ticket and bags checked through to onward Emirates flights.
How far is Abu Dhabi airport from Dubai?
Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport is about 123 km by road from Dubai International, roughly 1 hour 10 minutes by car without heavy traffic, and close to 2 hours by RTA bus E102 (checked 27 Oct 2026, Rome2rio). Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flies nonstop from Kathmandu to Abu Dhabi in about 5 hours.
What is the time difference between Nepal and Dubai?
Dubai is 1 hour 45 minutes behind Nepal all year. Nepal uses UTC+5:45 and the UAE uses UTC+4, and neither country uses daylight saving. When it is 12:00 noon in Kathmandu, it is 10:15 in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
Can I take the metro from Terminal 2?
No. Dubai International Terminal 2, used by Himalaya Airlines, Nepal Airlines and some flydubai flights from Kathmandu, has no metro station. The Red Line stops only at Terminals 1 and 3. From Terminal 2, take a taxi from the rank, a ride-hailing car, or a public bus with a Nol card.
How far is Nepal from Dubai?
Dubai is about 2,990 km (1,857 miles) from Kathmandu in a straight line, roughly west-south-west across northern India, Pakistan and the Arabian Sea. That makes the nonstop flight from Nepal to Dubai about 4 hours 40 minutes to 5 hours 15 minutes westbound and about 4 hours on the way back.
What documents does Nepal immigration ask Dubai visitors for?
Nepal immigration at Tribhuvan may ask Dubai visitors about the purpose of their trip, because visit visas to the Gulf have been misused for job-seeking. Workers need issued labour approval. What documents apply to your trip is covered by our visa team on the visa process for Nepali passport holders page; rules change, so check before you fly.
