Short answer: Marina Bay Sands in Singapore is the three-tower hotel, mall, museum and casino resort topped by the boat-shaped Sands SkyPark. Anyone can buy a timed ticket to the SkyPark Observation Deck on Level 56, but the famous infinity pool on Level 57 is for hotel guests only. The Spectra light and water show is free every night at 8pm and 9pm (plus 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays), and the easiest way to enjoy the whole area is a sunset deck visit followed by Spectra and an evening walk around the 3.5 kilometre Marina Bay promenade. This guide is for couples, honeymooners, families and first-time visitors who want to see the best of Marina Bay Sands without guesswork. It explains what you can and cannot do as a non-guest, how the SkyPark booking works, when Spectra runs, how to time a sunset and light show evening, and how to walk the Marina Bay loop past the Merlion, the Esplanade, the Helix Bridge and Gardens by the Bay. We have not included ticket prices, because they change and are best checked on the official booking page on the day you plan. What is Marina Bay Sands?
Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort on the southern shore of Marina Bay. It opened in 2010 and is owned by Las Vegas Sands. Under one roof (or rather, under three towers) you will find a large hotel, The Shoppes mall, the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, the Sands Theatre, a casino, dozens of restaurants, the lotus-shaped ArtScience Museum and, on top, the Sands SkyPark. The resort was designed by Moshe Safdie, and the SkyPark that bridges the three towers is the part that turned it into the symbol of modern Singapore.
The three hotel towers rise 55 storeys, roughly 200 metres, and published height figures differ slightly depending on how they are measured. Across their roofs sits the SkyPark, about 340 metres long, with a cantilever of about 67 metres that juts out beyond the north tower. That overhang is where the public Observation Deck sits. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Structurae engineering database.
For a visitor, it helps to think of Marina Bay Sands as three zones:
- The sky: the SkyPark Observation Deck (ticketed, Level 56), the infinity pool (hotel guests only, Level 57), and rooftop restaurants and bars with their own entry rules.
- The waterfront: the Event Plaza where Spectra plays, the promenade, the ArtScience Museum and the glass pavilions on the water.
- Indoors: The Shoppes mall with its canal and Sampan Rides, the Rain Oculus, food courts and restaurants, the theatre and the casino.
Marina Bay Sands is also a huge draw in its own right. Las Vegas Sands said the resort welcomed its 500 millionth visitor in March 2025. That is a useful reminder that you will not have the place to yourself, especially in the evenings and at weekends, so booking the deck ahead and arriving early for Spectra make a real difference.
Is Marina Bay Sands under construction in 2026?
Yes, next door. In mid-July 2025, Marina Bay Sands broke ground on a major expansion, often called IR2, adjacent to the existing resort. The official plans include a fourth hotel tower of 55 storeys with 570 suites and a 15,000-seat arena for concerts and live events. The official announcement says the new tower will be topped by a 76,000 square foot structure called the Skyloop, with a public observatory, restaurants and rooftop gardens on its lower level. Two further details come from travel media only, not from the resort: Executive Traveller puts the Skyloop at about 245 metres with a public skywalk, and Time Out Singapore reports construction finishing by June 2030 with opening in January 2031. Marina Bay Sands and Las Vegas Sands have not published a height or an opening date on the pages we checked, so treat both as unconfirmed. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Marina Bay Sands groundbreaking page, Sands press release (16 July 2025), Executive Traveller and Time Out Singapore.
What this means for you in 2026 and 2027: the existing three towers, SkyPark, Spectra, The Shoppes and the museum all continue to operate. You may see hoardings, cranes and occasional road changes around the site, and taxi drop-off points sometimes move during big events. The official directions page posts these traffic advisories, so glance at it if you are arriving by car.
| Expansion fact | What is published |
|---|---|
| Groundbreaking | Mid-July 2025 (ceremony held on the evening of 15 July 2025, Singapore time) |
| New hotel tower | 55 storeys, 570 suites |
| Arena | 15,000 seats |
| Rooftop feature | Skyloop with a public observatory (official); height of about 245 metres (media report only, not on official pages) |
| Expected opening | January 2031 (media report only); no date on the official pages |
| Impact on visitors now | Existing attractions open; expect construction around the site |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026, marinabaysands.com groundbreaking ceremony page, sands.com, Executive Traveller (15 July 2025), Time Out Singapore (17 July 2025).
Can you visit the SkyPark without staying at the hotel?

Yes, but only the SkyPark Observation Deck. Non-guests buy a timed ticket for the deck on Level 56 of Hotel Tower 3, which gives the classic view over the bay, the city skyline and Gardens by the Bay. The infinity pool one floor up is reserved exclusively for hotel guests, and an Observation Deck ticket does not give pool access. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Marina Bay Sands SkyPark page.
SkyPark Observation Deck hours and booking
| Session | Hours | Last entry |
|---|---|---|
| Non-peak (daytime) | 9:30am to 4:30pm | 4pm |
| Peak (sunset and evening) | 5pm to 10pm | 9:30pm |
| SkyPark Box Office | Daily, 9:30am to 9:15pm | Not applicable |
| Kiosk on Level 56 | Daily, 9:30am to 10pm | Not applicable |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026, marinabaysands.com SkyPark Observation Deck page. Hours can change for private events and holidays.
A few points from the official page are worth knowing before you go:
- Book online in advance. Entry is time-based, and the resort strongly recommends buying ahead. Sunset slots are the first to go, especially at weekends and during school holidays.
- Entrance: go to the Hotel Tower 3 driveway. Lifts take you up to Level 56.
- Children: children under 2 do not need a ticket. Children under 13 must be accompanied at all times by an adult over 18, who also needs a ticket.
- Bags: luggage is not allowed on the deck. It can be checked at the Guest Services Desk at the Tower 3 porte cochere.
- Food and drink: you cannot bring pre-purchased food and drink, glass bottles or cans. There is a kiosk on the deck.
- Footwear is required. Going barefoot is not permitted.
- Weather: the deck is unsheltered and may close temporarily during extreme rain or lightning. Umbrellas are not provided, and you are advised not to open your own because of strong winds.
On the deck itself, you look across to the Esplanade with its spiky, durian-like domes, along the downtown skyline and across to Gardens by the Bay, which the official page lists among the deck's panoramic views. In the evening you also get an elevated view of Spectra on the water below. The deck also hosts a small showcase called "Skyline Singapore: Stories From Above" about the history of the resort.
What about the rooftop bars and restaurants?
Level 57 has restaurants and bars, including LAVO, Spago and CÉ LA VI, linked to the deck by a mezzanine. These have their own entry rules. For example, the official page says an Observation Deck ticket does not get you into CÉ LA VI; you go to its own reception on Level 1 of Hotel Tower 3 instead. Dress codes, age limits and reservation rules are set by each venue, so check them directly before you plan a drink with a view.
For couples, the resort also offers a premium "Sunset in the Sky" programme with priority access through a private entry point, dedicated seating and a dining menu. Details and availability are on the SkyPark page.
How long should you spend at the SkyPark?
Most visitors are happy with 45 minutes to an hour on the Observation Deck. If you are timing it for sunset, give yourself about 90 minutes so you can see the city in daylight, at golden hour and after the lights come on. Remember that the peak session closes at 10pm with last entry at 9:30pm.
Infinity pool: who can use it?
The Marina Bay Sands infinity pool is open only to hotel guests, who must show their hotel keycard for entry. You cannot pay to swim, and no attraction ticket includes it. The official pool page describes a 150 metre pool on Level 57, open daily from 6am to midnight, with adults-only, family and children's sections. There is no age restriction for entry, which makes it workable for families staying at the hotel. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Marina Bay Sands infinity pool page.
If the pool is the main reason you want to visit, it is worth deciding early whether one night at the hotel fits your trip. Many couples stay a night or two at Marina Bay for the view and the pool and then move to a different area. Our Singapore honeymoon guide covers how couples often split their stay.
What is the Spectra light and water show and when is it on?

Spectra is a free outdoor light and water show staged nightly over the water at the Event Plaza in front of Marina Bay Sands. It lasts about 15 minutes and combines fountain jets, projections onto water screens, lasers, mist and lava-style effects with an orchestral soundtrack. The theme is Singapore's growth into a cosmopolitan city. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Marina Bay Sands Spectra page.
| Day | Spectra show times | Duration | Ticket needed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday to Thursday | 8pm and 9pm | About 15 minutes | No, free and open to all |
| Friday and Saturday | 8pm, 9pm and 10pm | About 15 minutes | No, free and open to all |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026, marinabaysands.com Spectra page.
Where is the best spot to watch Spectra?
The best spot is the Event Plaza itself, the stepped waterfront area outside The Shoppes. Sitting on the steps puts you directly in front of the water screens, so you see the projections clearly and hear the soundtrack properly. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes before the 8pm show if you want a seat near the front, and a little less for the later shows, which are usually calmer.
Other options:
- Al fresco dining: the official page says the show can be viewed only from selected restaurants if you sit outdoors, naming Le Noir and Dallas Cafe and Bar.
- From the Observation Deck: a peak-session deck ticket gives you an overhead view. You see the patterns on the water but lose much of the sound and the detail of the projections.
- From across the bay: from the Merlion Park and Fullerton side you can see the lights and lasers against the towers, which makes a good skyline photo, but you will not get the full show experience.
Is Spectra on when it rains?
The official Spectra page does not publish a rain or weather policy. Light drizzle usually does not stop outdoor shows in Singapore, but heavy thunderstorms and lightning can affect them. If the sky looks threatening, check the resort's channels or ask at a concierge desk inside The Shoppes before you walk out to the plaza.
A tip for calling family in Nepal
Singapore is 2 hours 15 minutes ahead of Nepal, so the 8pm Spectra show starts at 5:45pm in Kathmandu and the 9pm show at 6:45pm. That is an easy time for a video call with parents or grandparents at home, and the 9pm show is usually less crowded, which makes holding a phone steady much easier.
What is the best time to visit Marina Bay?
The best time of day for Marina Bay is late afternoon into evening: arrive while it is still light, watch sunset from the SkyPark or the waterfront, then stay for the light shows. The best months for the outdoor parts are generally February and March, often among the drier months, but because so much of Marina Bay Sands is indoors, any month works with a little planning.
Singapore sits just north of the equator, so sunset barely moves through the year. Monthly average sunset ranges from about 6:51pm (earliest, in November) to about 7:21pm (latest, in February). Checked: 27 Oct 2026, WorldData monthly sunset table for Singapore. That makes a 6pm SkyPark entry a safe choice in almost every month.
| Months | Weather pattern | What it means at Marina Bay |
|---|---|---|
| February to April | Warm; February and March are often drier, April brings more afternoon showers | Good odds of a clear sunset from the deck, especially early in the period |
| May to August | Hot and humid, some showers | School holiday crowds; book deck slots early |
| September to November | Warm, afternoon thunderstorms in the inter-monsoon | Do outdoor walks in the morning; keep the evening flexible |
| December to January | Wettest spells of the northeast monsoon, festive | Christmas and New Year events; carry rain gear |
Based on our month by month guide to the best time to visit Singapore.
Travelling over Dashain and Tihar? The festival holidays fall in the October to November inter-monsoon period, when afternoon storms are common. Plan the outdoor part of your Marina Bay day for the morning or early evening, and keep the ArtScience Museum and The Shoppes as your rainy hour backup. This is also a peak travel window for Nepali families, so reserve deck slots as soon as your dates are firm.
Sunset plus Spectra: a simple evening timing plan
This plan uses the published 2026 show times. It lets you see the skyline in daylight, catch sunset from above, watch Garden Rhapsody at Gardens by the Bay and finish with Spectra, all without rushing.
| Time (Singapore) | What to do | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Around 5:45pm | Arrive at the Hotel Tower 3 driveway | Allow time for the lift queue and bag rules |
| 6pm to 7:15pm | SkyPark Observation Deck for sunset | Book a peak session slot online in advance |
| 7:15pm to 7:40pm | Walk to the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay | Allow roughly 20 to 25 minutes on foot via the bridges |
| 7:45pm | Garden Rhapsody light and sound show | Free admission, except during some ticketed seasonal events |
| 8pm to 8:50pm | Walk back towards the Event Plaza, quick dinner at The Shoppes | Food courts and restaurants inside the mall |
| 9pm | Spectra at the Event Plaza | About 15 minutes; usually calmer than the 8pm show |
| After 9:15pm | Night stroll over the Helix Bridge | The bridge is lit up and the skyline is at its best |
Show times checked: 27 Oct 2026, marinabaysands.com (Spectra) and gardensbythebay.com.sg (Garden Rhapsody). Walking times are our rough estimates.
Garden Rhapsody runs daily at 7:45pm and 8:45pm at the Supertree Grove. In October 2026 its theme is "Opera in the Gardens", from 1 to 26 November it is "Garden Waltz", and from 27 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 the Christmas Special takes over, when admission charges may apply to the Supertree Grove during ticketed events such as Christmas Wonderland. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Gardens by the Bay Garden Rhapsody page.
If you would rather keep it simpler, skip Garden Rhapsody and do sunset on the deck, dinner, and Spectra at 8pm or 9pm. With young children, the 8pm Spectra is usually the better choice so you are back at the hotel at a sensible hour.
How do you walk the Marina Bay loop?

The Marina Bay loop is a flat waterfront walk of about 3.5 kilometres that circles the bay and links Marina Bay Sands, the Helix Bridge, the Esplanade, the Merlion and the downtown waterfront. The continuous promenade was officially opened in July 2010, and Singapore's heritage agency describes the Helix Bridge as part of this 3.5 kilometre waterfront promenade. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Prime Minister's Office speech archive (18 July 2010) and Roots.sg Helix Bridge page.
Walked at an easy pace with photo stops, the loop takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. It is lovely in the early morning, before the heat builds, and again after dark, when the skyline lights up. Midday in the open sun is the hardest time to do it.
The loop, stop by stop
- Event Plaza, Marina Bay Sands. Start on the waterfront steps where Spectra plays. The ArtScience Museum rises like a lotus to your left.
- Helix Bridge. A 280 metre pedestrian bridge whose steel double helix is modelled on the structure of DNA. It links Bayfront to Marina Centre and has four viewing pods that jut out over the water. It is one of the best spots to photograph the Marina Bay Sands towers.
- Marina Centre and the Esplanade waterfront. Once across, walk along the water towards Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay, the building with the spiky domes. Check the Esplanade programme if you would like to catch an outdoor performance by the water.
- Jubilee Bridge. A 220 metre bridge that links the Esplanade waterfront with Merlion Park. Singapore's heritage agency describes it as a barrier-free route, and it opened as part of the nation's Golden Jubilee celebrations.
- Merlion Park. Home of the half-lion, half-fish Merlion statue, Singapore's best known mascot. This is the classic spot for a photo with Marina Bay Sands across the water.
- The Fullerton waterfront and Marina Bay Financial Centre. Continue along the bay past the historic waterfront buildings and the office towers of the financial district, then follow the promenade back towards Bayfront.
- Back to Marina Bay Sands. You arrive at the Event Plaza again, ready for Spectra or dinner.
| Loop stop | Why stop | Ticketed? |
|---|---|---|
| Event Plaza | Spectra, waterfront views | No |
| Helix Bridge | Viewing pods, skyline photos | No |
| Esplanade waterfront | Architecture, views back to Marina Bay Sands | No (some indoor shows are ticketed) |
| Jubilee Bridge | Barrier-free crossing with bay views | No |
| Merlion Park | Merlion statue, classic photo of Marina Bay Sands | No |
| Gardens by the Bay (side trip) | Supertree Grove, Garden Rhapsody | Outdoor gardens no; conservatories and Skyway yes |
Bridge lengths checked: 27 Oct 2026, Roots.sg (National Heritage Board) Jubilee Walk pages.
Adding Gardens by the Bay to the walk
Gardens by the Bay sits just behind Marina Bay Sands, so it is an easy add-on rather than part of the main loop. From Bayfront MRT, take Exit B and the underground linkway, then cross the Dragonfly Bridge or Meadow Bridge into the gardens. From the hotel side you can also use the overhead Garden Bay Bridge at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, open daily from 8am to 11pm. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Gardens by the Bay getting here page. The outdoor gardens and Supertree Grove are a lovely place to cool down under the trees, while the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest conservatories and the elevated walkway between the Supertrees are ticketed.
One construction note for 2026: a new bridge between Bay South Garden and Bay East Garden is being built. Since 4 May 2026, cyclists cannot use the Waterfront Promenade at Gardens by the Bay, while pedestrians can still use it with a slight diversion. A related pedestrian and cycling bridge linking Marina Centre and Bay East Garden is reported to be due by 2029. Follow the on-site signs if your route looks different from older maps. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, gardensbythebay.com.sg plan your visit notice.
Is the Marina Bay walk stroller and wheelchair friendly?
Mostly. The promenade is paved and largely flat, Bayfront MRT and The Shoppes are linked underground, and the Jubilee Bridge is officially described as barrier-free. Some crossings and short sections involve slopes, steps or lifts, so with a stroller or a wheelchair it helps to allow extra time and follow the accessible route signs. For older parents, the loop can be split in two: Marina Bay Sands to the Helix Bridge and back one evening, and Merlion Park and the Esplanade by taxi or MRT another day.
What else is inside Marina Bay Sands?

Beyond the SkyPark and Spectra, Marina Bay Sands has enough to fill a rainy afternoon: the ArtScience Museum, The Shoppes mall with an indoor canal and Sampan Rides, the Rain Oculus water feature, the Sands Theatre, food courts and restaurants, and a casino for adults. Some of these are free to enjoy, and others need a ticket.
| Experience | Ticketed or not | Hours and key rules |
|---|---|---|
| SkyPark Observation Deck | Ticketed, timed entry | 9:30am to 4:30pm and 5pm to 10pm; book online |
| Infinity pool | Not sold; hotel guests only | 6am to midnight; hotel keycard required |
| Spectra light and water show | Free | 8pm and 9pm daily, plus 10pm Friday and Saturday |
| ArtScience Museum | Ticketed exhibitions | Daily, last entry one hour before closing |
| The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands | Free to enter | Shops and restaurants keep their own hours |
| Rain Oculus | Free to see | Hourly water cascade into a 22 metre acrylic bowl |
| Sampan Rides | Ticketed | 11am to 9pm, last ticket 8:30pm; about 30 minutes |
| Casino | Adults 21 and over only | Foreign visitors must show accepted identification and use the Foreigners lanes |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026, marinabaysands.com attraction, museum, Sampan Rides and casino entry pages.
ArtScience Museum
The ArtScience Museum is the white, lotus-shaped building on the waterfront beside the hotel. On the day we checked, the official site listed opening hours of 9am to 6pm daily, with last entry at 5pm. Its permanent draw is teamLab "Future World", a set of interactive digital art rooms that children especially enjoy.
Exhibitions change through the year. When we checked on 27 October 2026, the museum listed "Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath", a deep-sea exhibition with OceanX running until 1 November 2026, and "More than Human: Making With the Living World", a touring exhibition from the Design Museum, London, scheduled from 28 November 2026 to 16 May 2027 in the Basement 2 galleries. If your dates fall between those two, check the official exhibitions page to see what is on. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, marinabaysands.com museum pages.
The Shoppes, the canal and the Rain Oculus
The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is a large luxury mall linked directly to Bayfront MRT. Inside, an indoor canal runs along the basement level. Sampan Rides take you along the canal in a small boat for about half an hour, circling the Rain Oculus, a 22 metre wide acrylic bowl that collects rainwater and releases an hourly cascade from a skylight two storeys above. The Sampan Rides run daily from 11am to 9pm, with last ticket sales at 8:30pm. Children below 13 must be with a ticketed adult, children under 85cm tall are not permitted, and pregnant women are not permitted on the ride. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Marina Bay Sands Sampan Rides page.
Even if you are not shopping, the mall is useful: it is air conditioned, it has toilets and food courts, and it connects the MRT, the hotel, the theatre and the Event Plaza without stepping into the rain. For a wider look at where to shop in the city, see our Singapore shopping guide.
Food at Marina Bay Sands
The resort has everything from celebrity chef restaurants to casual food court counters. Vegetarian travellers, including many Nepali and Indian visitors, will find options at the food courts and in many restaurants, but it is worth asking clearly about egg, fish sauce and shrimp paste, which appear in many Southeast Asian dishes. For great value local food, the hawker centres around the bay are a short walk or one MRT stop away; our guide to the best food in Singapore lists the dishes to look for.
The casino and the theatre
The casino is for adults only: the casino rules state that nobody under 21 may enter or remain inside. Foreign visitors must show identification proving they are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents and use the lanes marked Foreigners. The casino's entry page lists which documents it accepts (a passport on its own may not be enough), so check it before you go. The Sands Theatre stages touring musicals and concerts; programmes change through the year, so check what is on before your trip if a show is part of your plan.
How do you get to Marina Bay?
The easiest way to reach Marina Bay Sands is the MRT to Bayfront station (CE1/DT16) on the Circle and Downtown Lines. Exits C and D bring you into The Shoppes in about a minute, the Event Plaza in about 4 minutes, the hotel in about 5 minutes, and the SkyPark, ArtScience Museum and Sands Theatre in about 10 minutes on foot. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Marina Bay Sands directions page.
| Bayfront MRT exit | Leads to |
|---|---|
| Exit A | Bayfront Avenue at street level |
| Exit B | Gardens by the Bay |
| Exits C and D | The Shoppes (1 min), Waterfront Promenade (3 min), Expo and Convention Centre (3 min), Event Plaza (4 min), hotel (5 min), SkyPark, ArtScience Museum and Sands Theatre (about 10 min) |
| Exit E | Expo and Convention Centre |
Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Marina Bay Sands directions page. MRT services at Bayfront run daily from about 6am to midnight.
Other ways to get there
- Other MRT stations: Gardens by the Bay station (TE22) on the Thomson-East Coast Line has an exit (Exit 1) straight into the gardens, handy if you start your day there. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Gardens by the Bay getting here page. Downtown and Raffles Place stations are useful for the financial district side of the bay and Merlion Park.
- Bus: daily services 97, 106, 133, 502 and 518 stop around the resort, with extra weekday services. Stops include Marina Bay Sands Hotel (outside Hotel Tower 2) and Sands Theatre (opposite Hotel Tower 3).
- Taxi or ride-hailing: the resort lists pick-up and drop-off points at Hotel Tower 1, Hotel Tower 3, the Expo and Convention Centre and The Shoppes. During large events these can change.
- From Changi Airport: the usual road route is the East Coast Parkway; the resort's directions page quotes an approximate 20 minute drive via the ECP, but allow more in traffic. The MRT takes longer but is simple; see our Changi Airport guide for arrival tips.
Arriving from Kathmandu
Singapore Airlines runs nonstop flights from Kathmandu to Singapore, overnight, with a scheduled flight time of about 5 hours (roughly 4 hours 50 minutes to 5 hours 10 minutes, depending on the day's departure time) and arrival at Changi at about 6:15am local time on recent schedules. Other airlines connect through hubs such as Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok. Checked: 27 Oct 2026, flight tracking data for SQ441 and our guide to direct flights from Kathmandu.
That early arrival matters for Marina Bay Sands. If you land around 6:15am, the Observation Deck does not open until 9:30am, and luggage is not allowed on the deck. Drop your bags at your hotel first, or if you are staying at Marina Bay Sands, ask the hotel to hold them. A good plan for a tired first day is a slow morning, an afternoon nap, then the sunset and Spectra evening described above.
Before you fly, remember that most travellers entering Singapore must complete the SG Arrival Card online before landing. Nepali passport holders should confirm their entry requirements well before travel; our Singapore visa guidance page explains how our visa team can help, and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority is the official source.
Is Marina Bay Sands good for honeymooners and families?
Yes, for both, though in different ways. Honeymooners come for the sunset views, rooftop dining and the infinity pool if they stay at the hotel. Families come for Spectra, the ArtScience Museum, the canal boats and the easy, safe evening walks. The main thing to plan around is cost and crowds, not suitability.
| Traveller | Best Marina Bay Sands experiences | Tips |
|---|---|---|
| Honeymooners and couples | Sunset on the SkyPark, rooftop dinner, Spectra, night walk over the Helix Bridge | Book a sunset slot early; consider a hotel night for the pool |
| Families with young children | Spectra at 8pm, teamLab Future World, Sampan Rides, Rain Oculus | Under 2s need no deck ticket; check the 85cm height rule for Sampan Rides |
| Older parents | Observation Deck by lift, Spectra from the steps, the indoor mall | Split the loop walk; use MRT and taxis between stops |
| First-time visitors | Deck, Spectra, Merlion Park and the loop | One full evening covers the highlights |
| Budget travellers | Spectra, Garden Rhapsody, the loop walk, Merlion Park | The most memorable parts of the bay are free to enjoy |
For honeymooners
Marina Bay Sands is one of the most romantic places in Singapore when you time it well. A sunset slot on the Observation Deck, followed by dinner on the waterfront and the 9pm Spectra, makes a memorable evening. If the infinity pool is on your wish list, you need to stay at the hotel; many couples book a single special night here and spend the rest of the trip elsewhere, such as on Sentosa. If you are still choosing where to go, our list of honeymoon destinations popular with couples from Nepal compares Singapore with other short-haul options.
For families
Children love Spectra, the digital rooms at teamLab Future World and spotting the Merlion. Keep the evenings short: the 8pm Spectra is about 15 minutes, and Bayfront MRT is right underneath the mall. Hold hands on the Event Plaza steps, which get crowded and sit right next to the water. The deck rule that every child under 13 must stay with a ticketed adult also applies at the Sampan Rides. For more ideas, see our guide to Singapore with kids.
For older parents and elders
Many Nepali families travel with parents, and Marina Bay works well with a little pacing. The deck is reached by lift, the mall is air conditioned with plenty of seating, and the Event Plaza steps give a comfortable seat for Spectra. Avoid the loop walk in the midday heat, carry water, and plan a taxi back if the evening runs late.
How do you plan your Marina Bay visit?
Plan Marina Bay Sands as one long afternoon and evening rather than a quick stop. Book your SkyPark slot online once your dates are fixed, keep Spectra as your free evening finale, and add the loop walk on the same evening or a cool morning. Most first-time visitors fit Marina Bay into a three or four day stay, alongside Sentosa, Chinatown and Little India.
A short checklist before you go:
- Book the SkyPark Observation Deck on the official site for a slot around 6pm if you want sunset.
- Check the Spectra page on the day for any changes to the 8pm and 9pm shows.
- Look at the ArtScience Museum exhibitions page if you want a rainy hour plan.
- Leave large bags at your hotel; luggage is not allowed on the deck.
- Wear comfortable shoes and carry water for the loop walk.
- If the infinity pool matters to you, book at least one night at the hotel.

Frequently asked questions
Can non-guests use the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool?
No. The Marina Bay Sands infinity pool on Level 57 is reserved exclusively for hotel guests, who must show their hotel keycard to enter.
