Kathmandu to Singapore Flights: Routes and Flight Time

28 min read 27 Oct 2026

Short answer: Yes, there is a direct Kathmandu to Singapore flight. Singapore Airlines flies nonstop once a day, SQ441 out of Kathmandu late in the evening and SQ442 back from Singapore in the early evening. The Kathmandu to Singapore flight takes about 4 hours 55 minutes to 5 hours 5 minutes and lands at Changi at about 06:15 the next morning. Everyone else connects once, most often in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok or Delhi, which usually adds three to nine hours or more. Singapore is 2 hours 15 minutes ahead of Nepal, so the overnight flight feels short on the clock but long on sleep. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Singapore Airlines schedule as reported by MainlyMiles and FlightMapper.)

This guide is for families, students, business travellers and the Nepali diaspora flying between Kathmandu and Singapore in the northern winter 2026 to 2027 schedule. It covers the nonstop timetable and aircraft, the one-stop routes that actually work, flight times in both directions, when to file the SG Arrival Card, which Changi terminal to expect, how to get into the city at dawn, and what economy fares typically look like by season. If you are still comparing destinations, our guide to every direct flight from Kathmandu puts Singapore next to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Dubai and the rest.

Is there a direct flight from Kathmandu to Singapore?

Yes. Singapore Airlines is the only airline flying nonstop between Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) and Singapore Changi (SIN), with one flight a day in each direction. The southbound flight, SQ441, is an overnight service: it leaves Kathmandu just before or just after 23:00 and lands at Changi at about 06:15 the following morning. The northbound flight, SQ442, leaves Changi at 18:55 and reaches Kathmandu between about 21:40 and 21:50 the same evening.

KAYAK's route page lists Singapore Airlines at 7 nonstop flights a week, and Singapore Airlines' published schedule for the northern winter season (25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027) shows Kathmandu as 7 weekly for the whole season. Nepali carriers do not fly to Singapore, so every other option involves a stop. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, KAYAK KTM to SIN and MainlyMiles, Singapore Airlines schedule to March 2027.)

Times below are local: Nepal time at Kathmandu and Singapore time at Changi. Small shifts of five to fifteen minutes happen between schedule periods and even between days of the week, so always read the time on your own booking.

Which aircraft fly the route this winter?

Singapore Airlines alternates two Boeing types on Kathmandu. The wide-body 787-10 is used on some days in the busy autumn and spring periods, and the narrow-body 737-8 covers the rest. According to MainlyMiles' analysis of the airline's schedule, the pattern this season is:

PeriodAircraft on SQ441 and SQ442
25 Oct to 27 Nov 2026Boeing 787-10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; Boeing 737-8 on other days
30 Nov 2026 to 2 Mar 2027Boeing 737-8 every day
From 3 Mar 2027Boeing 787-10 on Wednesdays and Fridays; Boeing 737-8 on other days

Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: MainlyMiles (2 Oct 2026) and FlightMapper schedule data. Aircraft swaps happen at short notice; the seat map in your booking shows the type actually planned.

Why it matters: the 787-10 is a larger twin-aisle jet, so on those days there are more seats and, often, more choice of fares. On the 737-8 days the plane is smaller, which is one reason the nonstop can sell out early around Tihar and the December holidays.

What the overnight timing means in practice

  • You arrive at breakfast time. A 06:15 landing means hotel check-in is usually hours away. Ask your hotel about early check-in or luggage storage, or plan a first morning that starts with a shower at the airport and a hawker breakfast.
  • The arrival date is the day after you leave. If you fly out of Kathmandu on the night of 14 December, you arrive in Singapore on 15 December. That date matters for the SG Arrival Card and for your first hotel night.
  • Sleep is short. Five hours in the air, minus meal service, leaves perhaps three to four hours of rest. With elderly parents or small children, a seat choice near the front or aisle seats can make the morning easier.
  • The return is gentle. SQ442 leaves Changi at 18:55, so you have most of your last day in Singapore and land in Kathmandu before 22:00.

If this is your first international trip, our first-time flying tips walk through check-in, security and boarding step by step, and the Kathmandu airport international departure guide covers what happens at Tribhuvan before you board.

Which airlines fly between Kathmandu and Singapore?

One airline flies the route nonstop, and roughly half a dozen others sell one-stop journeys. KAYAK's route page lists Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Air India, Malaysia Airlines, China Eastern and IndiGo among the airlines selling Kathmandu to Singapore, and momondo's listings also show connections through Chengdu, Kunming, Mumbai, Penang, Dubai and Doha. The table shows the realistic choices and where each one connects.

KAYAK counted about 18 weekly Batik Air and 10 weekly Malaysia Airlines nonstops from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur, about 14 weekly Thai Airways flights to Bangkok, and about 42 weekly Air India and 28 weekly IndiGo flights to Delhi. From those hubs onward, Singapore is one of the busiest routes in Asia: FlightsFrom lists over 30 daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and around 15 daily between Bangkok and Singapore.

How long is the flight from Nepal to Singapore?

The nonstop flight from Nepal to Singapore is scheduled at about 4 hours 55 minutes to 5 hours 5 minutes, and the return from Singapore to Nepal at about 5 hours to 5 hours 10 minutes. The straight-line distance between Kathmandu and Singapore is about 3,535 km. A one-stop trip usually takes 8 to 14 hours door to door at the airport level, depending on the hub and the layover.

Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: FlightMapper (scheduled block times), KAYAK and momondo (fastest one-stop samples). The Delhi and separate-ticket rows are our estimates from the published flight times plus a typical layover, not a quote.

Why does the northbound flight take a little longer? Mostly winds and routing. Scheduled times are set with a buffer for the season, which is why the same pair of airports can show 4 h 55 min one way and 5 h 10 min the other. Your actual time in the air is often shorter than the schedule.

Singapore to Nepal flight time, for diaspora and returning students

For the many Nepalis who live, work or study in Singapore, the evening SQ442 is the simple way home: leave Changi at 18:55, land in Kathmandu before 22:00 Nepal time. Because Nepal is behind Singapore, the clock only moves forward by about 2 h 45 min to 2 h 55 min even though you have been flying for about five hours. Connecting options home run the other way through the same hubs, and KAYAK's Singapore to Kathmandu page shows Bangkok as the most common connecting point in that direction.

Which one-stop routes work best?

The best one-stop route depends on what you value most: price, time, or having one ticket that protects you if the first flight is late. KAYAK's data for Kathmandu to Singapore shows Delhi (34 percent of one-stop trips), Bangkok (31 percent) and Kuala Lumpur (28 percent) as the three main hubs, with Mumbai a distant fourth. Here is how they compare.

Via Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is the hub with the most Kathmandu departures. Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines fly Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur nonstop in about 4 h 35 min to 4 h 55 min, and from there the hop to Singapore is about an hour. Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air both fly Kuala Lumpur to Singapore themselves, so they can sell you one ticket with bags checked through. If you combine a Nepali carrier with an AirAsia flight onward, that is two separate tickets, and AirAsia leaves from KLIA Terminal 2 rather than Terminal 1, which means a terminal change. If you are weighing a two-country holiday, our Malaysia vs Singapore comparison helps decide whether to stop over in Kuala Lumpur rather than just change planes.

Via Bangkok

Thai Airways flies Kathmandu to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi about twice daily in roughly 3 h 20 min to 3 h 30 min, then Bangkok to Singapore takes about 2 h 15 min to 2 h 40 min on Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines or Scoot. KAYAK's fastest one-stop sample for this route, about 7 h 49 min, went through Bangkok. The trap is Bangkok's second airport: low-cost flights from Don Mueang are separate tickets from a separate airport, and crossing Bangkok eats most of a day. Our Kathmandu to Bangkok flight guide explains the two airports in detail.

Via Delhi

Air India and IndiGo between them run several Kathmandu to Delhi flights a day, and Delhi to Singapore is served by Air India, Singapore Airlines and IndiGo in about 5 h 40 min to 6 h 10 min. Delhi routings often show up among the lower fares, but you fly west before you fly south-east, so total time is longer. Nepali citizens do not need a visa for India, which makes a self-transfer in Delhi simpler for Nepali passport holders than for most other nationalities; travellers on other passports should check India's rules for their own passport.

Do you need a transit visa in Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok?

On one ticket with bags checked through and no change of airport or terminal landside, most travellers stay in the international transit area and do not pass immigration at the hub. The picture changes with separate tickets, an overnight stop or a change between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2: then you usually have to enter the country, and Malaysia and Thailand each have their own entry rules for Nepali passports. We cover those in our Malaysia visa guidance and Thailand visa guidance. Rules change, so confirm with your airline and the official immigration site before you book a self-transfer.

When should you submit the SG Arrival Card?

Everyone who enters Singapore must submit the SG Arrival Card (SGAC) with its electronic health declaration within three days before arrival, counting the arrival day itself, on the official ICA website. Travellers who only transit at Changi without clearing immigration do not need it. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, ICA, SG Arrival Card.)

The overnight SQ441 creates one common mistake for Kathmandu travellers: people count the window from the day they leave Nepal rather than the day they land in Singapore. Use the landing date.

Checked: 27 Oct 2026, ICA. Examples follow ICA's "within three days, including the day of arrival" wording.

Submit only on the official ICA site; ICA warns that it does not endorse commercial services that offer to submit the card on your behalf. Since 30 January 2026, ICA also issues No-Boarding Directives to airlines, so a traveller who does not meet Singapore's entry requirements can be refused boarding in Kathmandu rather than turned back on arrival. ICA's examples of entry requirements include holding a valid visa where one is needed and a travel document with at least six months' validity. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, ICA media release on No-Boarding Directives.)

On visas: Nepal is not on ICA's list of countries whose nationals need a visa to enter Singapore (checked 27 Oct 2026, ICA visa requirements), but entry is always at the immigration officer's discretion and rules can change. For the current position and what our visa desk checks, see the visa process for Nepali passport holders. On any other passport, check the official ICA site for your own passport before you book.

Which Changi terminal will you arrive at?

View over an aircraft wing of the runway and terminals at Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Airlines says its flights may arrive at Terminal 1, 2 or 3, and the arrival terminal is assigned about two hours before landing, so SQ441 from Kathmandu does not have a fixed arrival terminal. For the flight home, Singapore Airlines lists Kathmandu among the destinations that check in at Terminal 2. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Singapore Airlines, Changi Airport page.)

Arriving on a one-stop airlineDepends on the airline; Changi uses Terminals 1 to 4Your e-ticket and the Changi flight status page

In practice, the arrival terminal matters less than people fear. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are linked by the free Skytrain and by walkways, the MRT station sits under Terminals 2 and 3, and taxis and ride-hail pick-up points are at every terminal. Terminal 4 is the separate one, reached by bus. Our Changi Airport guide for travellers and layovers covers the terminal layout, transit hotels and what you can do without clearing immigration.

What is the time difference between Nepal and Singapore?

Singapore is 2 hours 15 minutes ahead of Nepal all year. Singapore uses UTC+8 and Nepal uses UTC+5:45, and neither country changes its clocks for daylight saving, so the gap never moves.

When it is this time in KathmanduIt is this time in Singapore
06:0008:15
12:00 noon14:15
18:0020:15
22:55 (SQ441 departs)01:10 the next day

For the diaspora calling home, the rule is easy: subtract 2 hours 15 minutes from Singapore time to get Nepal time. A 20:00 call in Singapore reaches family in Kathmandu at 17:45.

How do you get from Changi to the city?

North South Line MRT tracks curving through Ang Mo Kio toward the Singapore skyline

From Changi, the MRT, public buses, taxis, ride-hailing apps and a 24-hour airport transfer counter all reach the city, and at the 06:15 arrival time of SQ441 every option is already running. The MRT is the usual choice for light luggage; a taxi or ride-hail is simpler with elderly parents, children or several bags.

The MRT, step by step in plain words

From Changi Airport station, take the train one or two stops to Tanah Merah and change to the East West Line towards Tuas Link for the city centre. Alternatively, change at Expo for the Downtown Line. Changi lists six ride-hailing apps that serve the airport: Grab, Gojek, Zig, Tada, Ryde and Geolah. Taxi surcharges apply at certain hours, including a peak-hour surcharge on weekday mornings, which is worth knowing because SQ441 lands right at the start of the morning peak. Once you are in town, our Singapore travel guide explains the MRT, tourist passes and paying by contactless card.

Can you visit Jewel Changi on a layover?

Traveller watching the Rain Vortex indoor waterfall inside Jewel Changi Airport, Singapore

Only if you clear immigration. Jewel Changi Airport, home of the Rain Vortex indoor waterfall, is on the landside public area, so a transit passenger has to enter Singapore to reach it. Jewel advises allowing at least five hours of transit time and being back to check in at least two hours before departure. The Rain Vortex runs from 10:00 to 22:00 daily, with light and sound shows in the evening. Jewel links directly to Terminal 1's arrival hall and is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 departure halls. (Checked: 27 Oct 2026, Jewel Changi Airport FAQs.)

For Kathmandu travellers, Jewel fits most naturally at the start or the end of a Singapore holiday rather than on a short layover. Arriving at 06:15 on SQ441, the waterfall does not start until 10:00. On the way home, with SQ442 leaving at 18:55, an early afternoon at Jewel before checking in at Terminal 2 works well.

How much does a Kathmandu to Singapore flight cost by season?

Economy fares between Kathmandu and Singapore typically fall in a band of about NPR 75,000 to 140,000 return and about NPR 37,000 to 100,000 one way, depending on the season, the airline and whether you fly nonstop. The table below is a typical range, not a quote: it is drawn from what fare-comparison sites showed on the day we checked, and the fare you are offered can sit outside it.

Typical range, not a quote. Checked: 27 Oct 2026. Sources: KAYAK KTM to SIN (US dollars) and KAYAK Singapore (Singapore dollars), both showing December as the cheapest month and May and October as the dearest for return trips over the past 12 months; momondo India (Indian rupees), showing March and August among the cheapest months; and live fare listings for Singapore Airlines nonstop one-way fares in late October and November. Figures were converted to NPR at Nepal Rastra Bank reference rates and rounded. One-way evidence is thinner than return evidence, so treat one-way ranges as a guide only.

How to read these ranges

  • The low end is usually a one-stop. The cheapest one-way fares we saw, around NPR 37,000, were IndiGo connections through India. The nonstop Singapore Airlines flight more often sits in the middle or upper part of each band.
  • Nonstop one-way fares near Tihar can run above the band. Live fare listings showed Singapore Airlines one-way nonstop fares for some mid November dates well above NPR 100,000. If your dates are fixed around the festival, search early.
  • December was the cheapest month on KAYAK's 12-month view. That surprises many Nepali families, because December is a holiday month. Fares tend to rise for the days around Christmas and New Year, so midweek dates in early or mid December are worth checking.
  • May was the dearest month on both KAYAK sites. It overlaps with school holidays in Nepal and with spring travel demand, so book early for April and May.
  • Prices move daily. Use these ranges to judge whether a fare is reasonable, then book from a live search on the airline or a fare-comparison site.

For the full picture of what a Singapore holiday costs beyond the airfare, our Singapore trip cost guide for Nepali travellers covers hotels, food and daily spend, and if you are planning around the festival break, see where Nepalis travel for Dashain and Tihar.

Which route suits families, students, elderly parents and the diaspora?

The nonstop suits most people who can afford it, but not everyone. Here is how we would match the routes to the travellers who ask us most often.

TravellerOur suggestionWhy
Families with young childrenNonstop SQ441 and SQ442One flight, no connection to miss, and the return lands before 22:00
Elderly parentsNonstop, or a one-ticket connection with a comfortable layoverRequest wheelchair or walking assistance when booking; Changi is easy to navigate
Students heading to SingaporeNonstop or one ticket via Kuala LumpurBaggage allowance and one-ticket protection matter more than a small saving
Budget travellersOne stop via Delhi or Kuala LumpurOften among the lower fares; accept the longer journey
Diaspora flying home for festivalsBook SQ442 early, or a one-ticket Bangkok connectionThe single nonstop fills up before Dashain and Tihar
Honeymooners and couplesNonstop out, then a free day before the evening flight homeThe overnight arrival gives a full first day; Jewel works on the last afternoon

A few practical points from experience:

  • Vegetarian and religious meals. Full-service airlines generally let you request a vegetarian or other special meal in advance, and each airline sets its own deadline. Request it when you book, because special meals cannot usually be arranged at the gate. On low-cost carriers, meals are usually bought separately.
  • Baggage depends on the fare type. Economy fares on the same flight can carry different checked-bag allowances. Check the allowance on your ticket, especially on one-stop trips that mix two airlines.
  • Carry your foreign currency within Nepal's limits. Our guide to the foreign currency limit when leaving Nepal explains what you can take.
  • Travel insurance. A missed connection on separate tickets is exactly the kind of problem insurance can help with; see our travel insurance guide for Nepali travellers.

How did we check the facts in this guide?

We checked every schedule, rule and fare in this guide on 27 October 2026. Schedules came from Singapore Airlines' published northern winter 2026 to 2027 programme as reported by MainlyMiles, cross-checked against FlightMapper, KAYAK and momondo timetable data, with the arrival terminal checked on Singapore Airlines' own Changi page. Rules for the SG Arrival Card, visas and No-Boarding Directives came from Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority. Transport hours came from Changi Airport and Jewel Changi Airport. Fare ranges came from KAYAK, momondo and live airline fare listings and are typical ranges, not quotes. Where two sources disagreed by a few minutes, we give the range and point you to your own booking.

How should you plan the rest of your Singapore trip?

Once the flight is settled, the rest of a Singapore trip falls into place quickly. With an overnight arrival and an evening departure, a four-night trip gives you nearly five full days on the ground. Our guide to how many days you need in Singapore helps you size the trip, and the best time to visit Singapore explains the drier and wetter months. If you are still choosing between countries, our list of the best travel destinations for Nepali travellers compares Singapore with its neighbours, and the Kathmandu to Bali flight guide shows how Changi works as a stop on the way to Indonesia. Is the direct flight from Kathmandu to Singapore daily?

Yes. The Singapore Airlines nonstop between Kathmandu and Singapore operates daily, 7 flights a week in each direction, throughout the northern winter season from 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027. Only the aircraft type changes by day and month. Check your booking for the exact departure time, which shifts by a few minutes.

Which is faster: the direct flight or a connection via Kuala Lumpur?

The direct Kathmandu to Singapore flight is faster, at about five hours. Connecting via Kuala Lumpur means about 4 hours 35 minutes to 4 hours 55 minutes to Malaysia, a layover, then about an hour to Singapore, so roughly 8 to 12 hours in total. Kuala Lumpur makes sense mainly for fares or a stopover.

When do I fill the SG Arrival Card?

Submit the SG Arrival Card within three days before you arrive in Singapore, counting the arrival day, on the official ICA website. On the overnight SQ441, your arrival date is the day after you leave Kathmandu, so count from the landing date. Transit passengers who do not clear immigration do not need it.

Do I need a transit visa if I connect in Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok?

On one ticket, with bags checked through to Singapore and no change of airport, most travellers stay airside in Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok and do not pass immigration. With separate tickets, an overnight stop or a KLIA terminal change, you usually must enter Malaysia or Thailand. Check the official immigration rules for your passport first.

Which Changi terminal does Singapore Airlines use for Kathmandu flights?

For flights to Kathmandu, Singapore Airlines checks in at Changi Terminal 2. Arrivals from Kathmandu can use Terminal 1, 2 or 3, with the terminal assigned about two hours before landing, so check the Changi App on the day. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are linked by the free Skytrain.

How far is Singapore from Nepal?

Singapore is about 3,535 km (2,196 miles) from Kathmandu in a straight line, roughly south-east across the Bay of Bengal and the Malay Peninsula. That distance makes the nonstop flight from Nepal to Singapore about five hours, slightly longer than Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur, which is about 4 hours 35 minutes to 4 hours 55 minutes.

Can I visit Jewel Changi during a layover?

You can visit Jewel Changi during a Singapore layover only if you clear immigration, because Jewel is in the public landside area. Jewel advises at least five hours of transit time, and you must be back to check in two hours before departure. Arriving from Kathmandu at 06:15, note the Rain Vortex runs from 10:00.

What is the time difference between Nepal and Singapore?

Singapore is 2 hours 15 minutes ahead of Nepal all year. Singapore is on UTC+8 and Nepal on UTC+5:45, and neither country uses daylight saving. When SQ441 leaves Kathmandu at about 22:55 Nepal time, it is already about 01:10 the next day in Singapore.

Kathmandu to Singapore Flights: Routes and Flight Time

18:0020:15

Which is faster: the direct flight or a connection via Kuala Lumpur?

The direct Kathmandu to Singapore flight is faster, at about five hours.

You can visit Jewel Changi during a Singapore layover only if you clear immigration, because Jewel is in the public landside area.
