How much is a flight from Kathmandu to the Maldives?
A return economy ticket from Kathmandu to Malé costs about NRs 82,500 to 1,07,600. There are no direct flights; every route connects once.
- What we found on 30 Sep 2026: flydubai's Kathmandu to Malé page showed return fares from NRs 97,481 for October, November, January and February and from NRs 1,07,561 for December. KAYAK showed the lowest recent round-trip of US$536 (about NRs 82,480) and typical fares of US$628 to US$689 (about NRs 96,600 to 1,06,000).
- Common connections: Dubai (flydubai), Sharjah (Air Arabia), Delhi (IndiGo, Air India) and Colombo (SriLankan Airlines, which flies Kathmandu to Colombo non-stop in about 3 hours 35 minutes).
- Journey time: flydubai lists about 12 hours via Dubai. Other routings vary with the layover.
- Cheaper month: KAYAK's data showed March as the lowest-fare month on this route.
Arrival time matters in the Maldives. Seaplanes fly only in daylight, so if you land late, a resort that needs a seaplane may mean a night in Malé or Hulhumalé at extra cost. We match your flight to the transfer before you book. Fares for Dashain, Tihar and wedding season go first, so book those dates early.
How much is the Maldives visa for Nepali passport holders?
Nepali passport holders get a tourist visa on arrival in the Maldives, with no pre-approval needed. Maldives Immigration's tourist visa page (updated 10 Sep 2026) lists the entry requirements but no visa fee. Entry is decided by the immigration officer at the airport, so carry these:
- A machine-readable passport with at least 1 month's validity (we suggest 6 months, as some airlines check this at boarding).
- A confirmed return ticket.
- A prepaid, confirmed booking at a registered hotel, guesthouse or resort. Our booking confirmation covers this.
- Enough money for your stay.
- The IMUGA Traveller Declaration, submitted online at imuga.immigration.gov.mv within 96 hours before arrival. Each traveller, including children, submits their own.

Green Tax and other Maldives charges
Green Tax is a per-night charge set by the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA). Since 1 January 2025 it is US$12 per guest per night at resorts and larger hotels, and US$6 per night at hotels and guesthouses with 50 rooms or fewer on inhabited islands such as Maafushi. Children under 2 are exempt. For a 3-night stay that is US$18 or US$36 per person (about NRs 2,770 or 5,540).
Maldives also charges airport departure fees on outbound passengers. We check that these are in your ticket's fare breakdown when we book.
How much pocket money do you need in the Maldives?
On Maafushi with our half-board package, plan on MVR 90 to 250 per person per day (about NRs 900 to 2,500) for lunch and drinks. At an all-inclusive resort, meals are covered and extra spending is optional.

How much does a Maldives honeymoon from Nepal cost for a couple?
A 4-day Maldives honeymoon from Nepal costs about NRs 3,95,000 to 4,45,200 for a couple on our Honeymoon Package, before T-GST. That is NRs 2,19,000 for the package (NRs 1,09,500 each), two return flights from Kathmandu at about NRs 82,500 to 1,07,600 each, and NRs 11,080 of Green Tax for the two of you. Meals are all inclusive, so the rest is optional: spa, diving or premium drinks.
