How much is a flight from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur?
A return economy ticket from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur costs about NRs 56,700 to 79,000 for most dates. On 1 Oct 2026, KAYAK's route page showed typical return fares of US$369 to 514, with the cheapest return fare found at US$352 (about NRs 54,100).
- Direct flights: Batik Air, Malaysia Airlines, Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines fly non-stop between Kathmandu and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Flying time is about 4 hours 45 minutes.
- Cheaper months: KAYAK's data shows April as the lowest-fare month on this route and June as the most expensive.
- Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi: AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air fly it in about 1 hour 10 minutes. KAYAK's typical return fare was US$42 to 80 (NRs 6,500 to 12,300).
- Combo trips with Singapore: you fly into Singapore and home from Kuala Lumpur, with the coach between them included. We estimated that ticket as half a Singapore return plus half a Kuala Lumpur return (KAYAK's typical fares); we price the real fare on your dates.
Fares change daily. Seats for Dashain and Tihar dates, and for the winter school holidays, are the first to go, so book those early.
How much is the Malaysia visa for Nepali passport holders?
Nepali passport holders need a Malaysia visa before they fly; there is no visa on arrival. Most travellers apply for the Single Entry e-Visa at the official portal, malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. Through Gomayu, it is NRs 8,500 for single entry, all-in including 13% VAT, as listed on our visa page on 1 Oct 2026. The Immigration Department of Malaysia's own fee table lists the government visa fee for Nepali citizens at RM 20 (about NRs 754); the rest covers the portal's processing charge and our service. Rates can change without notice, so we confirm when we file.
- How long it takes: about 7 to 12 working days. Apply 3 to 4 weeks before you travel, and earlier for Dashain and Tihar.
- Stay: up to 30 days. The e-Visa cannot be extended.
- Money in the bank: a 3-month bank statement showing about NRs 1,00,000 per person. This is proof of funds, not a cost.
- Other documents: passport valid 6 months or more, a 35 x 45 mm white-background photo (no hat or tika), confirmed return flights, hotel booking and a leave letter from your employer or college.
Every traveller must also file the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my within 3 days before arrival, even with a valid e-Visa. The official MDAC has no fee, so do not pay any website that charges for it. Full process and checklist: Malaysia visa for Nepali citizens.
How much pocket money do you need per day in Malaysia?
Plan on RM 45 to 120 per person per day (about NRs 1,695 to 4,522) on top of a Gomayu package. Breakfast, transfers and the sightseeing in your itinerary are already paid, so this covers the rest.

- Travel as a group of 3 or more. On the Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi Tour the price drops from NRs 88,500 each for 2 people to NRs 79,500 each for 14 or more.
- Book the flight early. It is the biggest single cost. In KAYAK's data, April had the lowest fares on this route and June the highest.
- Eat where Malaysians eat. Hawker stalls and mamak restaurants cost a fraction of mall restaurants.
- Skip Langkawi if the budget is tight. A Kuala Lumpur-only trip saves the domestic flights; Malacca and Genting are day trips by road.

It excludes the visa fee, international and domestic flights (including Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi), travel and medical insurance, drinks and personal expenses, and activities not in the itinerary. On the Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi Tour, the cross-border coach is included and lunch and dinner are extra unless stated. Inclusions differ by tour, so check each tour page.
